VQ30DE - Timing Belt Or Chain?
I own a 2004 Maxima, which of course has the VQ35 motor with a timing chain. My son just bought a 2000 Maxima SE. I am pretty sure the VQ30 motor has a timing belt. What is the recommended mileage to change the belt?
Anybody ever broke a timing belt? What happens if the belt does break, do the pistons shake hands with the valves?

Timing Chain
Thanx for answering my question guys. It's good to know that we won't have to change the friggin belt!
I really love my 6th gen Max, but nothing beats a nice 5th gen, especially one thats lowered and has some nice wheels on it. I am already trying to talk my son into lowering his car!
On the other hand, nothing compares to to the smoothness and power of the VQ35DE motor. With the mods I have on my car, the thing is a monster, both in acceleration and handling.

Checked out the page, you're a pretty crazy guy, I've alweays thought the whole custom self drilling rotor idea, as I work with metals a lot. Nice Maxima, saying a lot because I'm prejudice of those thigns.
BTW, nice looking girl on that page also.
