code thrown, anyone know this one???

code is P0430 - Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)

this code came up a couple monthes ago. i cleared it to see if it would come back and it did last week. would this be a problem with my cat or 02 sensor???

fyi, i've already changed maf, coils, and plugs.

thanks.

i got the same code too...i don't think it's the 02 sensor..cus if the sensor goes bad...i think it has another code..maybe the cat no good!!! i am just gonna get the 02 simulator to turn the SES light off..that's it,don't wanna spend 400 somethings for that little front cat.

Heres the info on this code straight out of the FSM

DTC P0420 (BANK 1), P0430 (BANK 2) THREE WAY CATALYST FUNCTION
On Board Diagnosis Logic

The ECM monitors the switching frequency ratio of heated oxygen
sensors 1 (front) and 2 (rear).
A three way catalyst (Manifold) with high oxygen storage capacity
will indicate a low switching frequency of heated oxygen sensor 2
(rear). As oxygen storage capacity decreases, the heated oxygen
sensor 2 (rear) switching frequency will increase.
When the frequency ratio of heated oxygen sensor 1 (front) and 2
(rear) approaches a specified limit value, the three way catalyst
(Manifold) malfunction is diagnosed.
Malfunction is detected when three way catalyst (Manifold) does
not operate properly, three way catalyst does not have enough
oxygen storage capacity.

Possible Cause:
Three way catalyst (Manifold)
Exhaust tube
Intake air leaks
Injectors
Injector leaks
Spark plug
Improper ignition timing

Well, My suggestion would be to have those possible causes checked out by a reputable mechanic, or at least the stuff your not to sure about , or dont want to check yourself.
You could have a cracked manifold or exhaust tube. Could be bad spark plugs, or injectors. And your timing might be off, not likely, but a possibility. And check to make sure there are no leaks in the intake, like all the hoses that go into the intake from the filter back to the throttle body.

I had the same code on my car once i put a high flow cat converter on. But i also had a code for and O2 sensor at the same time. I took the high flow cat off and that code went away but i still had to replace the O2 sensor. I dont know if you put a high flow cat on or not but if so that may be the problem.

Hmm...same code kept popping up. I cleared it all three times and it hasn't come back since. That was over 5,000 miles ago. Guess I'll have to wait and see.
