Dash is making ALOT of noise
Everytime im going over bumps or a bad road my dash keeps banging like it loose then alot of time i jsut get that velcro tearing noise from it, and when in the highway i hear somehting ticking coming from the passenger side, i hear the slightest things, and it kills me, my father borrowed my car and said he never heard anything beside the little banging comign from the dash which he also said seems loose, but says it possibly cuz im dropped, and i feel the bumps more, any one with similar probelms ?
I want my camry back .... 99 camry 260k on the clock and was solid like a muthafu*** and this 03 max with 16k feels sooooo cheap...=*(

I've got the same problem when I go over bumps in the road but not on level ground. I've tried to locate it but can only find dead ends as in I thought it was originally coming from the glove box door but that's not it. It sounds like its coming from around or under the air bag / air bag cover. I don't want to bang on it because I figure it might deploy.
I fixed the little buzzing rattle coming from the cigarette lighter outlet by simply twisting it clockwise about a quarter turn or so with my thumb if that helps either of you. I know that was annoying but this new rattle has come to rule my drive when I hear it.
Anyone have a fix? I'm to the point of either taking my dash apart or going to the dealership.

I have the same thing with my 2000 I30 but it didn't start until it got cold out. All the noise seems to come form under the passanger air bag or near the passange vent.
I have tried various things, including using caulk, but no luck yet. Tonight I am trying something new and will see in the mornig if it works. If I figure out the source of the rattles I will let you know.

The vent may be a good place to start looking. Plus the cold might have something to do with it as this is the first winter I've owned it and it didn't do this until recently.

I have a 5.5 gen and I drive the same streets as Qmax03. I don't have any noise problems whatsoever. I'm not dropped yet, but I don't think that matters because my I30t was dropped and I didn't have noise problems there either. Well, I did have no squeak by the A-pillar on the I30t, but I took that air conditioning foam and that stopped the squeaking.

I've got the same 'rattles' (for lack of a better word). I find myself reaching across the car sometime holding different spots trying to get it to stop.
It is cold here in Minnesota as well, but not sure if it started after it got cold, or because it got cold...
At least I know I'm not alone!

I've got a rattle on my 2000 that sounded like it was coming from the glovebox door. I put a hand on it and it stopped, but I noticed that it was actually coming from the HINGE of the glovebox door. Haven't had time to check it out yet, but that's where it's coming from.
Worse when it's cold out.

Here's an advice to check something before isolating the rattle or noise, check your glove box. Sometimes people forget to check that if there are loose item sliding back and forth or rattling. I had an ice scraper there and when i was driving, i heard a rattle, it was my ice scraper and i removed it and the problem was isolated.

i went on a hunt to figure out what it was, i took out EVERYTHING from the car it was empty then my freind drove my car whilr i was int he passenger seat i noticed the passenger side vent makes noise, rattles with a ting, punched it a couple times ,,it went away and came back latter the airbag area makes a lot of noise pressed it down and what not still there, then .. the area right by the shifter makes velcro type noise, on insprection i noticed it was loose as well with the climate control thing, tryed pressing it in and holding it but it wouldnt lock into place.

My blower motor bearings went out last winter. Sounded like a rattle at first then got progressivly worse over time. I bought a used fan from a junk yard and haven't had a rattle since.
BTW: I have 100k on my '03 and it's still solid. Was the Camry dropped?

Yeah I had the same problems with my 2001 dash. It got much worse when I dropped it and it got cold. I ended up taking everything out of the glove box which helped, but I still got noise from the dash. I took out the glove box and put some foam along the back side of the hinge and in any area that seemed like it would touch. Also where the airbag plug clips on the glove box. I also used the foam to help pad and sturdy up the armrest console. Most of all my sounds are gone and the car feels solid again. When I put stuff back in the glove box I used an old towel to line the inside incase something does want to bang around. Another thing to check is the ash tray. I used to keep loose change in there and that was part of the problem. At some point I plan to line all the storage areas in the car with a felt or material to help sound deaden.
Hope that helps!

I have the same problem with my 2k. It sounds like something is loose on the right side by the dash.... I took it to the stealer on three occasion when the car was still under wananty, they said I had a loose FSB which was fixed. Other time they told me they are not hearing to noise.... So I just gave up..... Maybe it a flaw in design BUT I Still love my MAX. AT 87k now still going strong
