Weird, scary screech sound from left front?

This has started happening a lot more past couple of weeks as it's gotten a lot colder.

Situation: when the wheel is cranked hard to the left or right, such as pulling into/out of a tight parking space, there is a loud squeaking, screeching noise as the car is moving. You can also hear this noise really clearly if you put in hard left or right steering and drive over a bump like a speed bump. The noise seems much more audible when driving in reverse. It sounds sorta metallic.

Trans was replaced 3,000 miles ago. I did a visual on the lift...control arms & bushings, transverse links look ok, rest of everything steering-related looks ok. Car has a good alignment (does not pull.) Nothing's rubbing, that I can tell. P/S pump and belt are not slipping.

Need opinions on where to go next.. cv joint? trans? wheel bearing? strut or strut mounts? Rack & pinion?

i had something like that when i turned my wheel all the way to the left and went really slow. took it to nissan and they said that some piece (can't remember what) snapped off and they replaced it for me.

I have EXATLY the same noise in the SAME situations (only in a left turn out though, not both ways), but I know for sure it's not tranny-related. Almost my whole suspension is aftermarket, and everything looks fine. I thought it was one of the plastic caps missing from the bump stop (metal to metal when turned hard), but replaced them and noise is still there. I'm thinking it may be the upper strut bearing.

XGa....try to remember what your mechanic did!!!

I think your'e talking about something else...we are all talking about a noise when the wheel is turned all the way to the left (or right) that occurs when pulling out of parking spots, etc....DEFINITELY not a wheel bearing. And you don't turn the wheel all the way to the locks when going a "higher speeds"

I had the same sound, when I changed my brakes, I found the dust shield bent. I pulled it away from the brake assembly, either that or something in my brakes was producing that sound. When I was done replacing the rotors and pads, the sound was gone!!!
