wow do people really not use these or does everyone feel like being selfish j/p. theyre a little expensive but i just noticed they're available, i always thought there were only the basic ones for our car (illuminas, hp's, gr-2's etc)
Konis are a little more difficult to install -but they are prolly the best shocks out there...I know because I have had them in every single car I have ever had except the Max and that's because they were not available when I originally installed my lowering springs.
The reason why Konis are the best is that when u adjust them, you are adjusting rebound (extension) only. Meaning, you dont stiffen up the shock under compression -as when it's compressing upwards after hitting a bump. Thus, you can maintain a pretty good ride even if you tighten them up a bit.
To mount them, you literaly cut off the top of the OEM strut and remove all the innards of the stock strut so that all that's left is the housing, then drill a 3/8 hole on the very bottom of the strut thru which you place a bolt that holds the cartridge itself inside the OEM strut - a little more work than a straight strut swap but.....you get what you pay -and work- for

I've been driving on Koni's for almost 3 years and I'd have to say that they are really good shocks. I bought them used when they were already 3 years old, and only after 6 years have the front shocks blown. That's because I ride them really low with ground control coilovers. Adjustability on them is great and easy for the front shocks. If you want to adjust the rears, you'll have to uninstall the entire suspension and turn the shock which is kind of a PITA.
As others said, installation is a little more difficult, but its worth it. Check out Tirerack.com because they also sell them for our cars.

you got 6 years out of a set of Konis ? I call BS on this one ! I have GCs also- and my Konis blow out EVERY winter. As a matter a fact I'm waiting for this set to go so I can put a insert up someone azz over at Koni. I paid 500 bux for mine 3 years ago, and I'm on my 5TH set of fronts now, and recently said big F-U to Koni and got AGXs for the rears. As soon as these things blow out, I'm ordering up some JIC Magics. Don't even THINK bout getting Konis for a Maxima.
