412 bucks for a muffler?

My 00's muffler just went. 412 bucks seems a bit high for replacement wouldnt you say? This was for the oem one, installed. I never paid that much for just a muffler and labor...

I'm in the same boat, man. I think I just popped a hole in mine today...I'll double check tomorrow. I was thinking about the price/comparison for a stock vs. an aftermarket...I didn't know they were $412 though! DAYUM! How much is it over the counter?

Might as well go Cattman/Frankencar/Greddy....or others. Any suggestions anyone?

Less than $300 here. Why pay labor?

The $412 price was for an original oem muffler installed....so the price of just the muffler was probably around 350ish. Either way it is alot of cash. I might be interested Qmax03.

What happened to mine is i think it gave out right where the pipe goes into the front of the muffler. the weld rusted I think...whats going on now is that pipe is still going into the muffler but its not secured, so all the pressure is leaking out around where the weld should be/used to be. It's pretty loud, but I guess anything like that would be compared to the usual quietness of stock max's.

Charliekilo3...well, I would do this myself if it was june or something, but right now I dont have a garage, and its 6 degrees outside. I'm not going to lay in the snow at that temp and mess with it.

Even if you buy his for $250 and pay a shop $50 to install, you're still saving $100.

In the diagram above, my muffler came apart at section 15 (so have some others on the here). I paid $30 for a mechanic to well it back together. No problems.
