Threw new code (P0455)

Christmas Day I got more than just a new Craftsman 12 drawer toolbox, also received a nice SES. Finally got around to having it pulled today at Auto Zone. The SES has since gone away.

P0455 - The PCM has determined that a large leak exists in the evaporative emission control system.

So other than maybe a loose vacum line, not really sure what the issue could be. I really don't feel like pulling my intake off and putting the OEM airbox back on just for Nissan to find a loose hose. Has anyone else seen/heard of this code previously?

Thanks,
-Tim

Tighten your gas cap and clear the code. If it comes back, take it to your local Nissan dealer and have them throw the smoke machine on it, and run the LDP and vacuum drop tests. Should be covered under federal emissions, 5/60 powertrain, your extended warranty or your factory warranty.

I have the same code. P-0455. The dealer found a canister and vent control valve that were both faulty. Yes, the car was hooked up to the smoke machine. Both parts are on order and I need an appointment to get them installed. This will roughly be a $400 job.

I've fiddled with the gas cap and looked at it, it was fine. The dealer cleared my engine light on the 27th, and funny thing is the light hasn't been back on yet?

I think I'll just go back to a regular mechanic to get this BS fixed next time I throw a SES light. $400 seems like and *** raping to me.

Neither one is particularly complicated if you can manage with a set of hand tools -- the canister is located in the left rear near the fuel tank and the vent valve is a black roundish thing with several black plastic lines going into it, located near the driver's rear of the engine compartment (look for the green schrader-valve cap that says Evap Service Port an follow the evap lines until you get to the valve.)

Well, this will be covered by my extended warrany and I'll pay a $50 deductible once I get around to scheduling an appointment.

Yeah - I've been slacking
