Car wont hold idle, wont go above 2500rpms -- Dead MAF?

Can someone tell me what the symptoms of a dead maf are? Just today my car stopped holding an idle, and now won't go over 2500rpms! Are these the symptoms of a dead maf?

PS, I know I'm posting my problems all over the place, but I'm trying to get this figured out.

Sounds like the MAF to me. Take the MAF out and physicaly take a look at it. See if there is any dirt, water, or oil on it. I had some water on mine one time and the car would bog down as soon as it hit exactly 2500 rpm. When it was dry the car was back to its normal self. I'm not exactly sure how to check it electrically though. I'll have to refer to my service manual for that one.

dumb question, exactly which part is the MAF? I have a guess, but if you have a picture, that'd help

It most likely is the MAF. I have a berk intake so it will kinda look different, but the MAF housing and MAF senser are in the middle. The housing is the black tube and if u unscrew the top 2 screws near the grey connector, you will see the actual sensor.

thanks.

My car's been throwing P0138/9 (rear bank o2 sensor) on and off for a few months. Could bad o2 sensor(s) fry my MAF?

Also, how much does a new MAF cost?

Does your car buck? when you try to drive it. I don't think it may be the Maf, if you check it and it's fine then I think you can really narrow down to the crankshaft sensor. I seen it happen on my sister's car, she thought her tranny is going but it was the sensor went dead. So i replaced it and it ran back where it hsould been.

I checked the MIL and indeed have a malfunctioning MAF. Does Dave roam this board, can I send him an email, or do I need to make a phone call and talk to him? I want to get this replaced within a day or two; the car is practically undrivable.

Occasionally I do! Calling me is still best- I don't know if its the cold weather, but we have been selling MAFs like crazy!
