Bad power seat switch???

On my 2000 Maxima SE, the driver's seat will not recline. I have removed the seat and, using test leads from a 12 volt battery, got the seat to recline back and by switching the leads got the seat back to go forward. The test leads were inserted in the plug coming from the recline motor. Since the seat reclines, I assume the motor is fine and that the problem is in the switch. Can't figure out how to remove the switch.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Steve

The same thing is happening to my seats in the 1993 Maxima. They do not recline... If someone finds out how to rig the switch or put in another one please let us know...

I think you have to remove the whole plastic assembly it is mounted in.

Drivers seat switch

My drivers seat will recline, but it will not return to the driving position. Can anyone provide me with some insight. I'm guessing it's not the motor since it will recline. How hard is it to replace the switch?

It looks like you'll have to remove the entire seat.

I've never done it so don't quote me, just going by the pictures. It does look like the ***** (87012+A, 87013+A) pull away from the switch. The switch itself probably needs removed from the backside of the trim. Once you get the seat out it should be more apparent.

Might try a junk yard for a new switch, $130 seems a bit steep. I'd also check the switches continuity before replacing it. Might not be the problem.
