Traction Control

I've got the TCS on my car but all it seems to do is inform me that the wheels are slipping. I am wrong? What is it supposed to do?

it tells u when the wheels are slipping to allow u to react if need be and it also cuts engine power and allows the wheels to regain traction

Is the tcs light and the slip light on at the same time? Cause if it is the tcs is not working. Mine doesnt work either, but I always left it off anyway.

No, the TCS light is not on. The slip light works when it's supposed to. I just hoped it would do more than let me know the wheels are spining.

if the TCS light it on.. then it will react to the slippage.. if not it will just tell you when the wheels are slipping, but its not like you cant feel it anyways so..

No if the light is on it mean the TCS is off, on my 2k1 there is a swich on the dash where you can switch on-off. In all kind of harsh condition the TCS can be life saver,
specially on black ice, since I've drive a lot in heavy snow and I prefer when the TCS is off, ( I have 4 good winters tire ) for most people who drive with 4 seasons tire and see occasional snow or heavin rain in way the system work to make shure you dont loose control of the traction and the car, like someone said the system cut the fuel to some cylinder so even if you pull the pedal to the metal the throttle wont respond to that command.

from what i heard also... you have to turn the TCS off when you car is in park.. if you're driving and try to turn it off, the light will turn on, but TCS wont turn off until you shift into park.. and ofcourse, vice versa

you can turn it on/off on the fly. while driving down the road turn the switch off. then stomp the gas in the snow. youll watch your revs fly up, but the car wont go anywhere. now switch it back on and mash the gas....notice that it wont let the car rev
