5th genners with G35 rims, step inside...

two quick questions:

1. Did you have to get new lug nuts, or can you use OEM ones?
2. I hear the small GLE/GXE center caps from the 16's will fit in the G35 centers. Is this true?

thanks...

1. I used my OEM ones off of my SE stocks, and addded wheel locks.
2. I'm still using the Infiniti caps.....I was too lazy to check and see if the SE center caps would work. Does that make me a traitor?

Oh and Irish, welcome to the G35C club! I heard, or should I say, I read that you just picked up a set of G35C's. Cool. How much did you pick them up for and what kind of tires are on there? If you don't mind me asking. I know you're going to be happy with them. Oh yeah, and post pics after. You can never get enough pics. Nice AE light mod too!

if by "fit right" you mean 45mm offset, that's one of the reasons. The different offset allows the rims to sit virtually flush with the wheelwells (look at many german cars) instead of the stock look, where's they're waaaayyy in there, like a freakin Buick. So "fitting right" all depends on what you consider the correct fit. The lug pattern and hub are correct. I.e. IMO it fits "right". I am NOT using the G35 tires (told the guy to take em off, take $300 off the sale price since I didn't want them and didn't want to pay shipping for em).BRAN808, I am putting 235/40/18 Toyo Proxes 4 on them, which will keep it close to OEM diameter.

Also BRAN, I got them for a little under $700 shipped from a G35 owner on G35frenzy.com (like the org..) They have 5K miles on them, and one small curb rash on one of them, otherwise, they are pretty much MINT....

As to heavier - I could care less....I'm not into 1/4 mile b.s...and will use my OEMs for auto-x probably. The reason is, most OEM rims are extremely strong. The roads around here SUCK (bent an SE rim last winter). I wanted a good-lookiing 18 that is STRONG (and doesn't cost $2k for a set..) Also the point that not likely someone's gonna steal OEM rims!!

I would have gotten some aftermarket rims, but couldn't find any I really liked for a reasonable price. I love the way the G35c rims look.

edit:
Tell me that these aren't some gorgeous rims that just came to my door:

BY THE WAY...what the heck is this thing? Is it some kind of tire pressure sensor or something? If so, is there a transmit/receive unit you can get?

I love the look of these rims on the 5th gen. I want to get these in the future, but I have heard some people talk about rubbing issues. I have Maxspeed Springs and 18's now with no rubbing issues what about the G35c 18s?

Irish I think you are correct in your assumption about an air pressure sensor. I don't think you can modify your Maxima to read this? You may be better off selling the sensors on ebay.

The rubbing is if you use the OEM G35 tires, which are 245/45/18 in the back (way out of spec for the maxima)...I'm using 235/40/18 so shouldn't have any rubbing problems...I also have maxspeeds....

Lumbee, or anyone else with additional pics of their 02's or 03's with the G35C's ...Put up a link or post some pics.. I may buy a set of these off ebay since about 3 sets are up for bidding.. Then just wait for all this evil white stuff on the ground to clear up before I can throw them on.

interesting....I will have to call some junkyards and see if I can find the receiver on a busted Murano or Z (or G35...) look and see if I can retrofit it into the max...

Nice wheels! That would be great if you can find a way to make the tire sensors work!

Yo Irish let me know if they rub after you put the tires on. Are they the same offset as the 350z wheels

I note you have them too. Are they heavier than the stock Maxima wheels? I know these aren't exactly light.

Nice wheels!

I'm pretty sure they will look nice in your car....

If I'm not wrong you said the rubber issue is only with the 245/45/18 but It won't happend with the 235/40/18 right???

Jeff..I just did a "ghetto-weighing" on my digital scale.
Me alone: 171
Me holding wheel: 194-195
Weight: 23-24 lbs.
24 lbs + 235/40/18 Toyo Proxes 4 (23.4lbs) = 47.4 lbs.

for comparision sake, I weighed my "extra" (bent) stock 17 SE rim at 24.5 lbs
+ 225/50/17 OEM Potenza RE92s (25 lbs) = 49.5 lbs.

so...lost 2 lbs, thought the center of mass will be farther out...

I'm not sure on the 18" 350Z's, but I had the 17's and the offset was a +30 in the front, and a +33 in the rear. Both 17x8, if I remember correctly. As far as rubbing, I think it'll depend on your drop. I've heard/read from guys with Maxspeeds and Eibachs, that they don't rub. I've got S-Techs, and it rubs. I'm in the process of changing out the rears to 235/40/18's, hopefully sometime this week. I'm pretty sure that'll do the trick.

I do like them, and have seen them in person on a maxima at one of the smithhaven meets. The guy complained the rears did rub a bit. I definatly think they look great on a maxima, and a decent price. Enjoy them.

thanks for sharing. If this were my post, I wouldn't go on someone else's thread and post it unless I had something useful to say :attention

buddy, you posted a "Could someone please run a carfax for me? " thread on the 5th gen forums.....

it's a thread about 5th gen maximas, our specific lug nuts/center caps and the G35 rims and tire pressure sensor system and whether it can be backfitted onto a 5th gen maxima. I suppose it could be in the wheel/tire forum too, but the entire question is about 5th gen maxes, so I'm not seeing what your problem is, or why it matters to you why this thread is here....

Irish welcome to G35 Rim club. i got some about 2 weeks ago for my I35. the tire size your using will take care of the problem with rubbing, the stock tire 245/18, is what i have and it rubs slightly on the right-rear when i hit a bump or dip really hard, regular driving no problem. they are heavy and you will feel it at take-off. if you're like me and put them on yourself, you'll be in the driveway huffing and puffing after putting them on.

..interesting you say that...as I noted above, they're actually lighter than my stock SE 17's.....As to the take-off...well I can deal with that. Drag racing and 1/4 mile aren't my thing anyhow. Wait til I add another 70 lbs with my Stage I/II/III subframe connectors

Get as huffy as you'd like, the thread is about wheels. I'm sure every other post in every forum could be linked together somehow. I have no problem with it being here personally and the fact is you knew others would see it here and you'd like it to get some attention and are justifying it in this case but as I said previously....
