I am driving my self crazy..

hey all.....I have some suspension problems as some of you know. I have been looking for the parts for about a month off and on and frankly I am quite frustrated. I bent my lower strut mount and i bent my steering knuckle, thats what the mechanic called it, some have told me they have never heard of such a part. i have not been able to find these parts any where. i also want to change my lower control arms in the future for some stronger ones and i have found pleanty of those. can any one point me in the direction of these parts and a possible price too. my friend just opened his shop so i want to get this done soon especially cuz he is only charging me $30/HR for labor.

thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with your situation, but first off, sorry to hear about your misfortune. Was this a Nissan technician that mentioned these damages to you? I'm assuming it was not as they would know the part numbers and such. Have you had it inspected by a Nissan tech at this point?

To my knowledge maximas have neither lower strut mounts nor steering knuckles.
We have ball joints, control arms, tie rods and cv joints for each wheel that connects to the rack and pinion steering. Your mechanic may be referring to the ball joint as a steering knuckle. I may be wrong.
My advice is go see a Nissan tech too.

Once you see a Nissan tech to find out EXACTLY what it is you need, call a local salvage yard and have them "locate" the parts. Most salvage yards are part of a large national database so you can definately find them somewhere...you may pay a little more with shipping and all but it sounds like it would be definately worth it to you.

Being your car is a 2003, if something is faulty, your warranty should cover it. Now them inspecting it, who knows. Maybe you could do this; take your car to Nissan to have the oil changed next time and see if they can take a look while its up on the lift.

Can't a mechanic look at an FSM and be able to identify the part?
