ground wiring
ground wiring
hey guys, i wanted to ground wire my car and i saw a few threads on it. it seems a lot of people are buying their parts at home depot and making it themselves. im not confident with my abilities to do make them myself, so i wanted to buy them instead.
i saw some on eautoworks.com for $115 or something and it seemed a bit expensive. but then i saw these on SWA: http://www.sportcompactonly.com/prod...=1217&catid=89
it says its a universal kit and that its "non-application specific." does anyone know if these will fit under my hood without any ugly "leftover" wiring? better yet, does anyone have these wired into their car? thanks for the input.

i have the BlehmCo ground wire kit on my 2003 - it's a really well made product and only costs $50. although, i didn't notice any difference in my car after adding the kit. i'm just thinking of it more as a cosmetic mod.
ask steve he work/ own Sport Compact only, if it works on the Maxima
also mention maxima.org to a get 5% off.

the BlehmCo kit is the best bang for the buck...Fit is good (so I hear) and Matt always makes good quality stuff.

Doing mods yourself takes a little bit of looking around sometimes...don't just expect it to be right in front of your face. I've done the grounding for 4 maxes in this area, and gotten the components for 2 from Home Depot (different ones), 1 from Lowe's, and 1 from True Value Hardward.

I've read your work prior to my post. I have to say, you did a great job on your Maxima. I have read post where Org. member getting their ground kit parts from homedepot. A newbie like me read their post and assume most of the parts are from Homedepot. To my search, a couple of the Homedepot does not have the stuff I need. Instead, I went online to ebay to get my items. Thanks for your info Irish.

Maybe Home depot doesn't have the stuff, but NAPA auto parts sure does. I bought all the stuff for mine for $20 and its 4 guage instead of 6 or 8 that you will get when you pay at least twice as much for a pre-made kit. And then you can ground everything you think needs to be grounded instead of taking somebody's word for it.
smoother idle (probably due to better grounding of the coil packs via the block ground)
brighter headlights (if you ground them and the alternator)
quicker revs (it seems)
for autotragics, smoother shifting (if you ground the tranny)
The car just feels smoother, in my case....and it can't hurt anything, so it's worth it.

2003 Grounding Pictures?
Does anyone have pictures of the grounding kit on a 2003 MAX? Please send the pictures to aprilbouchard@hotmail.com or reply with a thread link please?
Living in Alaska where temps drop to -50 (twice this winter so far!) if it helps with cold weather starts im willing to do this. If you can give me a break down of the recommended parts also.
Thanks alot!

As to pics of the 2003....I don't have any, but the grounding spots are essentially the same as they are on the 2000-2001 (and I have done a 2002-3 maxima also)....they may be a few inches in a different location......seriously, you don't have to be a helicopter pilot to figure the locations out

so...do they let you work on the car in the hangar?
Of course we wash, wax, and even tint windows in there. I just did the ATF flush in the hangar. Just some of the perks I guess
. Where did I tell you about being a helicopter pilot?
FWD cars are just as good as 4WDs cus most of the 4WD vehicles have a higher center of gravity and fwd have all the weight on those 2 tires and perform just as well. BUT an AWD (AUDI A6) is even better than FWD of course, Im sure you know that though.
BTW you would love Alaska in the summer time....90 degrees with 24 hours of sunlight....now thats when you can show people you love your car!!!!

I used 6 or 7 I think...look on my website, there's a diagram/how-to...measure them before cutting, depending on where you want to run them
terminals...I used the ring terminals that come with a blue plastic collar on them...I pulled the collars off, though, so the shrink wrap would work better (and look cleaner)
