Mileage in severe cold weather?
What kind of mileage do you guys get in the dead of winter? I usually warm my car for 2 mins before driving off and the car is usually parked outside...
I am currently getting only 15 mpg (or 420KM off a tank = 261mile)!!!
Temp has been -4F ( -20C) to -22F(-30C)...
what do you guys get?

I go from 315-340 on a tank to 280-310 on a tank -that's a 10% drop...not trivial.
Here in the Portland, OR area it's not only the weather but the fact that we're forced to use oxygenated fuels (meaning, up to 10% ethanol mix) in from November to the end of Feb...that alone kills mileage by 3-5%

Up here in Quebec we are having a pretty cold winter, -15 -20 celcius for the past 2-3 weeks. I still get 575-600KM from a tank, no problems. (+- 11-12L/100KM, 18-21MPG) Mostly highway driving, 30 minutes to 1 hour. In the summer, highway driving, I can get better than 10L/100KM. If I have fun it never gets worse than 11-12L/100. (and that is with A LOT of fun!)

here in jersey the lowest ive seen was 9F. i think using my heated seats and wheel and mirrors plus full blast on heat eats gas like crazy, does anyone else notice that?
i get about 21 mpg on the hwy/city mostly hwy going about 75-80. yeah winter does bring crappy gas milage.

Once car is warmed up I haven't noticed a decrease in mileage....getting high 300's per tank

300 per tank, and I leave my car idleing for around 20 min every day after work to have a nice warm ride back home in traffic. In summer I'm around 360-450 miles on a tank depending on how heavy my foot is, and where I'm driving. Constant 70MPH has yield me as high as 31MPG on the highway last September when I was driving down to St Louis, MO. With winter around I get about 260 miles out of 12 gallons of gas that I put in it- full tank makes the car slower :P

100 miles and your at half a tank, thats really bad. mine is at about 75 miles per 1/4 tank and i tend to have a pretty heavy foot. Your MPG is insanely low!

I can probably speak for driving in cold weather as well as anyone. All city driving in the extreme cold, my max will get as low as about 12-13 USMPG. On the other end of the spectrum, in nice summer conditions all highway driving I can get over 30 USMPG and have on one occasion gotten over 800km (500 miles) on one tank. Quite a range of extremes.
