rear strut tower bar? anyone got it, any diff, where to get?

rear strut tower bar? anyone got it, any diff, where to get?

if anyone has a rear strut tower bar i was woundering if you noticed any difference or anbsolutly nothing? is it worth the 40 or 50 buks, and where to get one? thanx

You might not need a RSTB seeing that you have a RSB. Someone who has both will need to chime in.

Yeah I got an ebay style I bought new in the box, but secondhand from an org member, and although some will say it does nothing it does have a slight effect. You notice it's stiffer, And the rear tracks better, in a sense follows the nose better. the greatest benefit is that it tightens up the rear, which causes oversteer, or in our case reduces the horrible understeer, this effect is felt the same as a rear sway bar, just not as much. I would recommend one, if you can sacrifice your trunk pass-through. You can always just take the center piece off and leave the ends on. Btw if you install it, be sure to remove the stock ring the goes around the upper mount, and distributes the pressure from the bolts, as the ends of the bar will replace this. Some people have left them on, and it prevents a flat mating of the bar ends to the tower top(the part of the unibody).

I have both, and when I installed them i did them a week apart, the tower brace first because it was snowy and it's easier, plus I wanted to see how it worked alone because everyone said it was worthless. I disagree, it makes a large difference, not quite that of the sway bar, but worth it, and of course both work the best, however still not curing the understeer. Next up is coilovers, perhaps i could play with those and fix some of that.

GreenSeMax, a couple of people over on my thread (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=374759) have mentioned the eBay bars too, but I can't find any rear bars on eBay. Do you remember who you bought the bar from, or do you happen to know who the eBay seller was? I'm looking for an alternative to the Stillen.

i bought it from a guy on the org, maxgsr i think his name is. He bought it off ebay, i'll see if I can find it again, i found it a couple weeks ago just to see what it cost, it was like 40 i think .

in order not to let the Rear strut bar interfere with passing through the rear seats, just install it up-sude-down. It will have the same efect, yett get out of the way of the hole in back seat support. :-)
