this is not the greatest picture as i am not on top of the shifter but you can see the finish and type from half way up.

just so you know, my shifter started chipping a while back from me wearing a ring and insisiting my auto should hit redline. i actually prefer the finish underneath but never got around to getting the rest of it off. the finish towards the bottom is what would be on a new one.

if it's anything like the levoc shift **** it should be simple. drink a couple beers first to calm the nerves. the only tricky part is connecting the overdirve switch (which i did pretty easily & im a numnuts when it comes to the electronics). the switch on my levoc shift *** was not polarized so it didnt matter which wire i conncected to the 2 overdrive wires.

Here is some information on the installation:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....418#post317418

It does require cutting, and once it's done or messed up, it is not reversible. If one doesn't feel comfortable doing all this, the recommendation is to simply purchase the entire shift assembly and do a swap out. The assembly cost is between $200 to $300 from the dealer.

Peace.

once you do install it, take off the titanium peel look, it looks much better with the chrome that is underneath it- i have an ae max, and my shifter (silver/titanium paint) started to peel, so i noticed a nice shiny spot of chrome on the shifter! after a while it started to peel more so i said awwwwwe wtf! imma just peel the whole thing , to reveal a nice chrome finish underneath- blk leather/chrome looks really good! i think nissan should have just left the ae shifter chrome instead of trying to plate it with some silver/titanium paint- that peels off right away! btw i scratch the silver sh#t off with a nickel! you know, just as you would a scratch off lotto ticket- good luck to anyone who gets the ae shifter - pain in the *** to put on a non ae max- peace

BLUEMAX01SE - Thanks for the tip. Mine is starting to peel and I can see the shiny part that you speak of. I'll make that my next mod.

rays01se - glad to be of some help! i am pretty sure you will be pleased once you see all the chrome on the shifter! it only took me about 15-20 minutes to complete this mod! i did mine when i was waiting in a long line at a car wash! like i said i used a nickel to scratch off the silver, but i guess you can use whatever works for you! i just thought i would use a nickel so it's silver against silver, and nothing would scratch! good luck !
