DO NOT REMOVE THOSE BLACK GUNK!!! nor the plastic. Those are to keep the plastic sealed to the black gunk to keep moisture out from getting inside the door panel and motor, among other componet inside the door.. Why would you want to take it off?

The ones on the door protect the door incase it's hit against the wall.
The fender I have no idea. You should be able to take them off and clean the sticky stuff with goo-gone.

I have them on mine and its black, like the one in the pics. They came with the car. I know you can buy this stuff at Wal-Mart but these look like they were put on at the factory or the dealership. Maybe its just something some dealers do to make more money... But they are safe to take off.

I have a pearl maxima that I bought used. I had a body shop remove the fender trim and it looks perfect. The previous owner took off the door trim and it left a very light yellow color on the paint whicc won't come off for me. I used a clay bar, 3M rubbing comound, nothing gets it off. Since your car is black I think it won't leave a mark. But invest in some rubbing comound. It works wonders.

It probably will leave a mark that runs the length of the strips. Since dirt and salt tend to collect on the inside of the strips, it will mark up the finish when you remove them, so make sure you wash the car and focus cleaning around the strips. After everything is clean, heat them up with a hairdryer, which will make them more pliable and easier to remove, and less likely to scratch the paint.
