Ordered my Budget Y-pipe today...

Just thought I would let you guys know that they are still offering free shipping (~30 dollar value) on their ypipes right now when you mention you are a member of Maxima.org. I ordered both the SS ypipe ($205) and a a test pipe ($19) from them today and they said it should reach my front door here in Norman, OK by Friday.....woot! Can't wait for it to get here! Make sure to ask for Jody.

A couple weeks ago I was able to set up a "deal" with Budget to where they would give us free shipping on their ypipes if we mentioned that we were org members. They have two different types, mandrel bent aluminized ($160) and polished SS ($205) available but not sure if they have made any for the 3.5s yet, you will have to give them a call to find out. Nevertheless, this is a pretty good deal since shipping from Canada can be kind of steep and Budget is well-known for making an excellent Y-pipe.

You can get their information and see pics of the products at www.lssexhaust.com or www.budgetexhaust.com. A test pipe is basically a straight pipe in place of the catalytic converter. It eliminates the cat thus improving flow through the exhaust.

I really have no idea, I was kind of wondering the same thing myself, but my buddy soonerfan is running a test pipe/y-pipe setup and his car sounds awesome, so that's the setup I am going for.

i have cattman y pipe but if i get budget test pipe it should sound like your buddies? i also wanna get B pipe because our 00-03 maxima's ARE restrictive! i've seen it and has flat parts instead of circular.

ya, soonerfan has a video posted on here of his setup and let me tell you -- it's the closest thing i have heard to a G35c on the org.

BTW-if you are wanting a B-pipe Budget can supply those as well and I am sure they would probly still give you the same free shipping deal for mentioning the org.

Congrats! Please post some pics and let us all know how it goes. I called Jody and additional shipping to Hawaii is almost $100! UUUGGGHHHH! Well, that still makes it cheaper than a Cattman. Choices, choices, choices!

Ya, especially when you consider how much Cattman would charge to ship to Hawaii. I am guessing she told you that since you live in Hawaii she could not ship it to you for free, or what?

Also, to those of you with b-pipes already, what is the noise difference with/without the resonator?

You are incorrect with this statement. Cattman may have a slight advantage in this area, but not "by far" and Budget backs their products 100% so I see no such discrepancy and have heard no complaints from any Budget customer about the quality of the construction.

unless someone has personally tested and tried each y-pipe, or we have 2 subjects who are comparing their y-pipes in comparable situations, I think this isn't gonna be answered ever... much like the debates cat-backs, intakes, and UDPs to a certain degree... I just don't like it when someone says something is better than another with no evidence mentioned, or none even to back it up...

Yeah, there's not too many Maxima's being fixed up right now, here in Hawaii. Everyone and their grandma has a sr20 powered S13 though! How'd you like it here? It's beautiful, but you pay the hammer to live here.

He has no clue what he's talking about. Yea Cattman has a good reputation for building quality parts but that doesn't mean there aren't parts that perform just as well or same w/ half the cost; such as budget.

What comes instead of the resonator when you order the non-resonator budget b-pipe? A straight piece of pipe?

the hi-flow cat is still a cat just "less restrictive" (i think it is pointless)
a test-pipe (aka straight pipe) is just a hollow piece of exhaust tube that replaces the cat.

see my sig for the video SOONR1 is talking about

The question remains - does budget make one for the 3.5 - 2002s and 2003s?

I called budget a few weeks ago when this offer was put together. Right now they don't make one for the 3.5.

I just ordered and received one from Warpspeed. I have to say the quality of construction is very high. Very nice welds also. They spent a lot of time on the phone answering questions. Also, shipping was really cheap. I should be putting it in later this week.

I bought a stainless steel y-pipe from Budget last June and am quite pleased with it. I kept the stock y-pipe in case I ever need it. They cost a fortune from the stealership. The Budget y-pipe is a fair bit lighter than the stock - different materials plus I believe the stock part includes two pre-cats that the Budget y-pipe does not.

Remember to get your car nice and warm before you run it through your environmental test. I haven't run mine through yet as its not due until September.

Luckily, we here in OK don't have emissions testing, so I won't have to worry about that (whew). But for everyone else, that's a good bit of information to keep in mind.

I just ordered a budget b-pipe today! Unfortunatley I couldn't get free shipping, even though I tried. The guy told me that the non-resonated b-pipe is "annoyingly loud", so I got the one with the resonator.

Let us know how it fits... I've heard different (usually extreme) opinions of the WS fitment... hope all goes well...
