Little help please

ok i am putting a CB Radio in my car, I know Redneck all the way but hey thats besides the point. I need a positive and a ground that is between 14 and 16Ga wire for the connectors that I have. Any thing that any one can think of that is easy to access I really dont ant to cut the fire wall and run off the battery terminal if I dont have to. Any advise out there????

oh P.S. wish me luck i have shoulder sugery tmorrow, I need some confidence.

Not to redneck IMO. I've thought about before. You should find the the points you are looking for around the fuse box area, you shouldn;t have to cut through the fire wall to install the CB. When you get done make a write up and take some pics, I'm sure there are plenty of rednecks here, me included who would like to check it out.

hes right, the fuse box area should take care of ya.

i had surgery on my knee when i was 16, and it was a pain in the *** afterwards, but youll be ok. just have friends and/or family there before you go in, and to be there when you wake up, cuz its nice to see a friendly and familiar face, no matter how basic the surgery is.

You live in SF... ya can't be a redneck... anyways... all the best with the radio and of course, with your surgery...

Installed but i could be happier i hooked it up kinda ghetto style. my buddy didnt feel confident on hooking it up to the fuse box because of the cluster**** of harnesses and wiring that nissan provides usso i ran it off os the 12volt conection for the ciggarteet lighter. one small problem when ihave any thing on the is electrical I.E. the heater or wipers i can hear it through wither th P.A speaker or the speaker on the CB. let me tell you that speaker if fub though. some one thought they would run across the street on me and they hear me yell for a change i need to tune my antenna but for the most part it is a sucess

If you need to move your power wire to the fuse box you can still do so easily. Radio Shack sells what they "fuse taps". You unplug a fuse and install the tap to the fuse and plug it back in. Then simply plug an insulated female spade terminal on to the tap and run your wire to the CB. Just make sure you hook the tap to a high (amp) rated fuse source.

Also, some cars have spare 12V+ power sources built it to the Fuse block.

If you are getting noise try moving your ground wire to a different spot.

I hope this helps,
Gears
