What do you guys think? I am thinkin about taking the one on my AE off just because it might look a bit sleeker without it. Post your thoughts.

i prefer it off unless it has been on a while. mine has been on since i got the car new and the paint is pretty much ruined underneath. i just keep it on to hide the damage it did to the paint. i thought it would be a matter of washing, polishing then waxing but i was wrong.

I would take mine off too but I have the same deal, the paint under mine is beat so until I repaint the car its gonna stay on...

Ya, so I just took it off and, DAMN, it looks horrible where the deflector was sitting on the paint. I am going to leave it off until I get a chance to wash and polish it and will see how it looks then, but I have a feeling that the paint in that area is pretty much fuuked.

I don't know why I kept it when I got the car. I didn't want it in the beginning. I must have gotten too excited when I bought the car new, 1st new car and didn't care. But I took it off within1 week because I started noticing scratches when I took it off the wax the car. Hasn't been on since.

Dude get this piece of plastic off your car asap. I took mine off as soon as i bought the vehicle and the paint underneath it was still screwed up. A lot of detailing somewhat fixed it but you can still tell something has been there.

For the love of your roof, get it off!

Don't make a poll, don't think, just remove it!

your clear headlights > my sunroof

curious, did you carfax before you bought your 2k2? a lot of time rental cars are the ones without sunroofs

Yeah, only "personal use" reported. And if you really feel that way about the headlights, lets just swap cars! It's that simple.

I originally bought a 2003 Max that didn't have it. I wasn't going to add one, mainly because I liked the look. A week later, our dealer got a loaded out 2002 that I decided to get, which ended up having one. With tinted windows it looks good, imo. I don't like the fact that, when the sunroofs open, you don't get near the fresh air that you got without having the visor. Oh well.

Looks better without, but it's practical when I drive with the sunroof open.
That's why I kept it.

Whenever I get my 5th gen Im going to keep it on. Ive riden in cars that have them and I loved the fact that I could have the sunroof open but yet it was still quiet in the cabin (mainly while going on the highway). All cars that my parents have owned and my maxima doesnt have one. My 88 maxima did have one, but the lady I bought it from said it flew off while driving. She retrieved it so I had it, but I never put it back on because some of the hardware was missing. My car has that same nasty looking paint on the top. Ive waxed and it still didnt work. Ive gotten so use to it that its like its not even there. Mine is in the shape of the outlining of where it once was. The paint underneath it was fine though. So I have a ring of nasty paint.

There was one on my car before I bought mine, and the paint is messed up where there was one I have to get it buffed and see if that helps, but I'm guessing the damage is done. I'd take it off anyway and see if you can clean up the paint where it was.

I have an after market sunroof (larger than factory one.) The larger deflector was a stick on....

I took it off it was quieter without it. Go figure.

I think it looks cleaner with out it.

Sup All...

It's just a matter of preference...IMHO, I think the car is 2 plain w/o. And as stated before, with tinted windows, it makes the ride stand out a little more...But with or w/o the deflector, we all still have Max's...Woo Hoo!

Mine had it on when I bought it, and it never bothered me. Honestly though, it still seemed kinda noisy at highway speeds with it open. It bugged my bf though, and one day he detailed my car for me, and removed it. It took me a minute to realize that it was gone, but I like the look without it, and it actually seems almost quiter while open at highway speeds than before. It looks kinda clunky, hunchbacky-almost with it on, now I think. It did do some paint damage to my roof for the nearly year or so that I had it on, so can't imagine what older cars would look like with it off. I think it's just a status symbol of sorts to just say "hey, I got a moonroof ", more than a necessary thing.
