New Gauges On 03 Max

Well, I decided to get reid of the Gauges I have in the Max already. The Speedo and tach are silver Titanium and the Gas and Temp are black. So I decided to go with these , heres an example of the Metal Flaked Silver. But I decided to go with Metal Flaked Black. These should look great with the Chrome Gauge Rings. They have almost any color gauge you want.
Heres the webpage to go to if you want to swap out your old gauges for something a little more exciting. Plus they will do custom designed ones!!!

Personally, I think stock ones are the best looking.

Well, I was thinking maybe the bulbs that go in the Honda's, Acura's and Infiniti's could fit in the Maxima. I am going to pull one out and go to some of the dealers down the street Toyota, Honda, Suburu and Acura and see if there bulbs match up with the Maxima's!
Plus taking out the silver flaked gauges and putting in the black with silver flakes will make it look brighter

those are pretty sweet and for $35 it's not a bad deal. the stock titanium ones are cool but us GLE guys have the all black ones so i'm very interested in this. where did you get the pics of the titanium ones? i only see one pic on their site of the 02 gauges.

actually if you decide to go with the new custom ones can i be first in line to offer you money for your titanium ones that you have in right now?

What you need to do is look at the color chart, they also make many colors and mixes. I am getting the Black Metal Flaked ones since I like the gauges to be all black. When you go to the site, click on the link for Gauge Faces, after doing that on the left of the new page is a link for the color chart. You can choose anyone of those for the Maxima gauges!!!

If i'm not mistaken, Acura's/Honda's use EL lighting and not LED's. That's why it's bright and has uniform lighting.

EL = electroluminescent. Electroluminescence is the production of visible light by a substance exposed to an electric field without thermal energy generation.

does anyone know where i can look to get the titanium gauges that come on the 5.5 gen SE models with titanium package? a junkyard or a dealer?

on a side note...does anyone know if the SE titanium gauges would even light up correctly if put into a GLE?

hey jay, the titanium gauges on the SE would fit in GLE's... have you tried checking the for sale forum for them? you can go there and start a new thread requesting them to see if anyone is selling them. who knows, maybe you'll luck out

You will not find a brighter OEM bulb to fit in our instrument cluster, end of story.

Yes, you can use 194 bulbs with some modification. Check my homepage for the HOW-TO to get it to look like this...

it's just a sheet sort of thing that you swap out right now the entire gauge? and how complicated is the install, anyone know?

It's pretty much plug n' play, however you will need to remove the needles in order to preform the swap. In order to do this, you will need to calibrate the needles...nothing too hard. (also in my HOW-TO)

I need to do it... but Can we instead use some other bulbs w/o having to do what you did or LEDS, can we use another bulb from another car that are brighter than our?

Absolutley. You can use any 194-type bulb, and I think a 74 type bulb as well, but I cannot garuntee favorable results. I tried an LED 194 bulb and it looked like an assed out blue. You could try red or some other color...not sure how it would look, though. Honestly, the most important part of the mod is stripping away the blue backing to our gauges , but such is the price we pay!

You can give another bulb type a shot, but I honestly don't think it's going to look all that great.

But would honeslty like to see someone prove me wrong - the brighter the better!

Pics

As soon as I get the new gauges I will take some pics so everyone can see. I don't like the white reverse indiglow ones, looks cheap. The Titanium ones look ok but only come as Tach and Speedo. Right now heres what the titanium ones that came with the car look like. The new ones will be all Black with the Silver specs in them. The gauge cluster will look less busy but still have the looks.

Stripping away the Blue Backing on the gauges!! Thats why I had to order new ones because well live and learn from mistakes. I used electric parts cleaner and well it went right through the blue and then some.
So where abouts in Jersey you from?

it's not really green. it's VERY bright white. plus the gauges are always lit. they're behind a tinted screen so you can't see them when they're off.

i also like the silver ones as well, but those do look pretty good! you just need to make them brighter now the darker color looks like it kinda makes the light appear dimmer...(could be the camera though)

It does make them a little dimmer but what I am going to do is just get bright white LED's , a set of four and place them in each hole in the back of the cluster to make it really bright. they come as a set of four , each LED has about 3 ft of wire. Whats good about it you can hook right into the dimmer switch with them. If you don't know what I am talking about, they are the LEDs that you can put in your air vents.
