FSTB how do they work?
FSTB how do they work?
I want to buy a front tower bar from ebay just wondering from people that have them...how much of a difference do they make on a maxima with a stock suspension setup? (of course i have the SE which has i guess stiffer suspenson?)
there are a TON of threads on this, but i cant recall any recently, so i'll answer your question
....they definitely do not make that much of a difference handling-wise unless you REALLY push your car, and even then, its not very noticable...its mainly a cosmetic mod..but for $25, why not?

? are there some serious curves on the highway or something?? its not gonna do anything at all while traveling in a straight line...its only supposed to reduce body flex during cornering
Then let me ask this if I may. All of our highway enterances & exits here are curved quite sharply & some are reducing radius curves. What would you recomend to those of us that want to reduce "body roll" or "Body Lean" when trying to go thru these types of curves at 30 - 50 mph.

Thanks!

my highway driving is all on route 78 in jersey which does consist of some curves but more importantly fast lane changing when some idiot cuts you off everyday and when i get to my destination, there are a lot of corners i take. How hard is RSB to install?
both the RSB and FSTB are DIY jobs. the fstb is about 10 mins, with most of the time spent finding your wrench. the RSB is more like 30 mins and made easier if you put the rear on supports, taking off the rear wheels also makes it even easier.
btw...the RSB is a more valuable and effective mod than the FSTB and I would suggest doing that one first if you can afford to.
you won't really notice the FSTB working unless taking a very sharp turn or using construction zone safety cones as a slalom course ...not that i or any maxima enthusiast would do such a thing.

a few fast cornering accidents involve people on here with RSBs. the rear is strengthened, but the front is not. too much of a good thing situation. many people suggest compensating the RSB with a matt blehm LTB, or even a FSTB, or both. but just cuz you install an RSB doesnt mean you can throw this thing around like an S2000.

Thus my previous question. If I install a rear anti-sway bar, don't I have to do something to compensate for this to the front suspension?

Also, the FSTB DOES make a difference in straight line highway driving. If you hit a bump or debris or whatever with one tire, the strut tower won't deflect (i.e. the car won't react as much).

: i can understand, however, that it would help on an on/off ramp, becuase there's a town not to far from here called new braunfels, which i frequently go to, that has off/on ramps that have sharper corners than my 40 mph road does....that being said, i still havent really noticed any difference, because i never push my car that hard...but the RSBs are supposed to make a great deal of difference in reducing body roll...the one that i hear everyone going with is the progress
fstb is a definate difference. Yea i had mine on for about a year, off for a few monhs, then back on ever since. I absolutely felt a much looser front end. During very aggressive cornering, and if you basiclly drive the hell otu of your car, you will very much appreciate this mod.
I won't claim one fstb is better then another one, but they are a great mod in general. Cosmetically, the stillen will be more appealing yea sure, but the custom maxima one to me is just plain ugly anyways. Otto FSTB is fine.
