Shifting from Park to Reverse

Sometimes it is a little hard to shfit from park to reverse in my 02 GLE. I find it odd i have to use force to get it to shift. Is this normal or should I get it looked at?

Put the parking brake on before you put the car into Park, that way the transmission is not holding your car in Park, the brakes are.

use PWRLFT's suggestion. it will take the strain off the transmission and no it wont wear out the rear pads any quicker. when i switched to synthetic atf, i noticed the effort to go between the gears had been reduced. check the fluid level as well.

so even though this sucks it is normal. So should I get int he habit of putting on my parking break all the time. Depress the brake, shift and then release the hand brake?

pull the brake up while you are stopped before you shift to park. then when you get back in to leave, shift to D or R with your foot on the brake then release the hand brake.

it is really important to use the e-brake on hills. i find it nearly impossible to pull it down into reverse when im on a hill. sometimes ill even get out and push the car forward a little and have my passanger shift into reverse while the parking brake is on..
