5th gen spoiler

sorry guys, the search is down so I am forced to ask an question in which I am sure the answer could otherwise be easily attained.

before my wrx I owned two modded maxima's and talked my mom into getting one for a winter driver. She ended up purchasing a 2k2 GLE today but she is seriously wanting a spoiler on the car. The dealership will probably end up charging her about $800 or so for parts, paint, install. I was wondering if you guys knew of a more cost effective solution to buy a 5th gen spoiler.

thanks

I just came across this one at custommaxima.com and it's only $100. I figure it will be about another $100-$150 to paint it which is def. cheaper than the dealer option. my biggest problem is the intall. is it difficult?

heres the link: its the last one: factory spoiler with LED http://www.customenterprise.com/view...asd/scspid/715

i would go with that one and then get it painted and mounted (not at a dealer). goto a private shop, usually cheaper and better work is done.

I got mine from dealer for my 02. It came to I think $380. This was a kit and was painted. It came with a templete and wire harness(I didn't need it was already wired for spoiler). If I had to do it again I would have it installed by a body shop. I had to drill like 6 holes in my trunk lid and had trouble finding the correct size bit. I had to modify a unibit so it wouldn't drill too deep and go through the inner wall of the trunk. I'm happy with the way it came out though. It looks like it came with the car. Paint matches perfect etc. I got it through Dave Burnette a year ago. You can PM me if you have any questions I will be glad to answer.

thats a pretty cheap install. Where is the best place to go for an install? just a local body shop?

I can get that one off of custommaxima.com for $90 and I figure about $140 for painting or so. I would like to keep it under $400 installed for her

I found this on Ebay. It seems like a pretty good deal.

$173 for an OEM painted spoiler. So then all she needs to do is shell out the cash for the intall, which should be under $100.

I'm curious: If your mom bought a Max for a winter driver, what is she driving during the summer? I have never been under the impression that the Maxima is wonderful in the snow.

It should not cost $140 to paint it!! I got a fender painted for $75 and the spoiler is not much bigger..so around $100 at most.

well she was looking at either an 05' accord V6 or 05' maxima.

she liked the looks of the 5.5 gen better, and decided she would rather save the money over an 05' and buy an 02'. She wants to try and get an 05' mustang GT this summer but I dont know if she actually will. Ideally, the maxima is her daily driver and the mustang is for summer.. once again though, I dont know that she will actually follow through with it.

That'd be cool. I like the new Mustangs a bit, as long as it's a GT and not the V6. What kinda snow do you guys get over in Chicago?

yeah, it would be a V8 GT.

In chicago during winter we get about 4-5 snow storms usually that hammer us. like 6"+ of snow. Otherwise its usually pretty light snow/rain/flurries, and complete bitter cold. Thats a big problem here is that it will snow 8" here, two days later the temp will go up 20 degrees and everything melts, then the temp drops down to 5 degrees and everything freezes.
My wrx does rather well in the snow though

The factory Nissan OEM spoiler usually are already pre painted, since all there is just the install. From what I know, cuz i still have my orignial brochure when I bought my 01 Maxima since it's already have a Spoiler cuz i have an SE. But I'm very sure that the factory spoiler are already pre-painted for those Maxima don't have a SE.
