Merlot Riders!!

IN my opinion, the sexiest 5.5 gen color...(ok maybe i'm a lil' biased) but iw as wondering..

any 5.5 gen Merlot max's with black painted grill and/or smoked hid's out there?
pics?? i've only seen these mods on black or white cars... But since i just got black wheels, i'm thinking of painting my grill and my hid housing. Want to see if it's as cool in real life as it is in my head. any pics??

Ok, well it may be difficult finding a Maxima with that list of mods done, but here is one Merlot with smoked HID's.

Not that I'm telling you what to do with your car, but...

IMHO, the blacked-out HIDs look very good on darker cars (and on some lighter ones.) They will definitely look great on yours.

As far as the grill, I definitely prefer body-colored to just black. And since you have such a nice color ( ), I would definitely go this route instead of black.

Just my .02.

i'm not quite sure what you are saying. i tHINK you MIGHT be saying... "I just received a set of 5.5 gen HID headlamps. How does one smoke them?"

i hope scmaxima doesn't mind but here's a write up i found.

link

it explains how to open up the hid's... and three things you could do to them...
1. clear out the blinker lens
2. paint the housing (smoke them)
3. install umnitza dde's (angel eyes)

have fun

Definitely look at GBAUER's Maxima. I think he has a pic in his sig. It's a Merlot Maxima with the grille painted Merlot instead of black.

If you're thinking of painting your Merlot Maxima's grille, you should give his a look. I think you'll be pleased.

I'm guessing this is true for most of the lighter colors. It wouldn't look great on Sterling Mist either.

Yup... I'd agree with that... it'd only look good on the darker colors...

i ain't really feeling the body colored grill either.

i just painted my grill and smoked my headlights...

love it. i'll post pics as soon as i wash, clay, polish wax this weekend. I think it looks more aggressive, but not a very "noticeable" mod. I want people to say "oOo i'm not quite sure what he did, but i like the way his Maxima looks"

I just came across RedMax2nv's CarDomain and saw some of his pics of the painted Merlot grill.

http://www.cardomain.com/id/xplayboy69x

You guys should really check out some of his pictures; you've gotta be nuts to think that looks "tacky."

Thanks for the props on my grill and engine cover. I have some new pics from last weekend after I cleaned it up. I'll have them posted in a few hours.

Believe me, I've actually been stopped by a cop that pulled me over just to ask what I'd done to my car. His wife has a Merlot and he thought mine looke a little different. He even asked if I could pop the hood while saying that I don't have too if there's something under there that he shouldn't see. Naturally, I popped it and showed him my engine cover, intake and FSTB. You'll see the differnce on the pics I'll post in a few.

In other words: just paint it Merlot. You'll be happy.

EDIT: BTW: I can't seem to post my sig anymore. Don't have the buttons since the org went down.

Go to User CP on the upper left side of your screen, scroll down to Miscellaneous Options and under Message Editor Interface change the drop down selection to "Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls"

Yeah, I guess you're right, it would be pretty similar to stock. I don't know how you could want to see your grill in black, I think that would look terrible on sterling, IMHO.
