5th Gen coil overs into a 4th Gen

I'm purchasing a set of Progress coil overs from a fellow orger who has a 5.5 Gen...

Do they fit my 4th gen? I know the rears bolt up fine but I dont know about the front.

I'm posting this in both the 4th and 5th gen forums, hopefully one of you guys know the answer.

No, the lower strut bolts are different.

Look into how Cattman modified 4th gen AGX front struts to fit on the 5th gens.

So what was the outcome Tony? Did you try installing them last weekend?

Yea actually I installed them and havent looked back. They are made for both 4th and 5th gens. You use your own strut mounts for the front and cut the flat piece the OE struts use on the strut. The bottom holes for the struts are made to fit both generations. The rears are the same except for the upper strut mount, which comes in the kit... I couldnt be happier

Really? When I was looking at the Tein SS they said the 4th vs 5th were different and they wouldn't support it after the sale. That's why I bought my Progress instead.

I assume you get roadsalt and such like I do in winter. Keep those struts greased up, covered, protected somehow as the finish is very susceptable to winter conditions.

Yup, what Progress did was drill the holes ovalish fior the front control arm bolts, that way it fits both generations. The rear mounts are different. 4th gens are 12mm vs the 5th gen 14mm bolts and the 5th gen bolts are about a half inch farther apart.

I didnt think of protecting them, as I really should. Although winter is over and no more salt but I'm getting a squeak from the front right... everytime the car bounces up and down at a slow speed you can hear it squeak, its very annoying.

So TEIN EDFC could work on a 4th gen

Ah, so that's why they're oval. Makes sense. Geez had I known that, we could've drilled out the Tein SS's then and used the EDFC. We could've modified the rear mounts too somehow. Overall that, would've been preferred to modifiying my Stillen plates to work on the Progress. Oh well. Live and learn.

Now that I think about it, why couldnt it? drilling the bottom holes in the front struts wouldnt be a problem. THe rear mount wouldnt be a problem either. I didnt check to see if the 5th gen top mount would fit the holes, since the 5th gen mounts bolts are wider apart, however if worse comes to worse, you could always just drill new holes in the unibody if you cant change the mounts.
