HELP!! 2k1 rear engine seal already shot!!

Just had my 2K1 in for an oil change at a local lube shop (I was in a rush) and the technician advised me that the rear engine seal is "sweating" (hanging drops) quite abit, and needs to be taken care of ASAP. When I got the car home I put in on the jack and sure enough oil sweating out of the rear engine seal! I have already a call into my dealer and have the car scheduled in for Monday, to have it looked after. My questions is, has anyone else experienced this problem? my car only has 6400 kilometers on it (about 4000 miles).

Not on a Maxima but on our 97 Nissan Quest, after 1000 miles the cars rear seal started leaking as well as a tranny leak. We got both fixed and was fine till we sold it in 2000.

WTF???? Something happened to Nissan after '99. This going broke sh*t sure showed up on the product Nissan is selling. I notice more plastic in my 2k1 than in my old '96 Max.

i say the dealer is going to void your warranty on the rear oil seal because of your remote car starter...or the k&n drop in...they will find a way

btw, i'm just messing w/ you, but good luck w/ nissan warranty work...they suck

It's actually the muffler bearings. They weren't rotated every 500 miles.

Just a quick note to let you know, brought the car in 7:30 AM Monday morning, Dealer dropped the tranny, changed the seal, washed car inside and out and I had it back by 3 in the afternoon, all covered by warranty. WOW!! Erickson Nissan in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada "rules", this is by far the best automotive dealership that I have ever dealt with no matter what make or model.

Muffler bearings don't need to be rotated until your 30K service check. However, they need to be galvanized every 500 miles. Jeez, punkdork, everybody knows that!

(that was my line, btw )

My friend once financed his stereo upgrade by telling his mom he needed new muffler bearings. tsk tsk tsk
