Removing Limiters

how would i go about removiing the limiter from a 2000 GXE. I was told the SE was capable of around 140 mph cause it doesn't have the limiter like the GXE. So i would definitely wanna take out that limiter. How would i do that? or is there no such limiter on the GXE?

why would you want to do this anyways?? you shouldnt drive that fast anyways, and you could get yourself and/or others killed...just leave your car like it is...IMO you shouldnt be able to exceed 110...

They're there for a reason. Whether it's tire speed rating of stock tires or not.

The only reason I would remove a speed limiter is if it hurt me when dynoing, and that would still keep a 130mph (depending on gear ratios) limter in palce for me.

It already performs like and SE, besides not going past 115, if that is indeed where your limiter is at now, it will get there as fast or faster than an SE. Not sure if the 5g gxe's gave limiters, 4gs do.

Tecnhosquare is your friend these days. Call them.

i believe on the auto gxe,se,& gle the limiter is all the same , not exceeding about 125-130mph. damn and like maxilvr said why the hell do you need to go that fast anyway? i can see if you were guttin it out and just using it strictly for the track, but for everyday driving, i would leave it alone.

Umm, on 2k+ The SE's have a top speed of 143 and a limiter at 149 (V rated tires stock)

But he does have a poitn when dynoing with a limiter at 115.

if technosquare does not come out with anything you can get rid of it with an apexi rsm, safc or even a vafc. the vafc would allow you to tune on the dyno just like the safc but will allow you the capability to control the vi switchover.

The limiter on my car cuts in at about 134 or so. Just before it hits 135 the fun stops. The only reason that I know is that I had my car in Italy with me for three years and drove it all over Europe. I was going to remove the limiter but decided that the gain was not worth the pain.

If I sell it it will be for around 12k. I just paid the car of this month and have a bunch of parts that I have not even installed yet. Like I said I am still trying to decide if I want to get a new car or not. It would be nice not to have a car payment for a while.

Last time I asked about removing the limiter, I got my back end chewed on for a while. The way I see it, if you want to remove the limiter, get one answer and stop talking in the thread, other wise you will have trouble, take it from me.

In general you want a limter that lets you go to the end of 4th gear for 5spd maximas and top out 3rd gear in autos, usually around the 130 mark.

Did I ever say that I wanted to remove my limiter? No. Do I drive at those speeds since I have been back in the states? No. I have a wife and two kids just like alot of other people. Know what your talking about before your start calling people idiots. Also use spell check.

Heres Another Sppeding Idiot...that I Have Too Look Out For On The Highway...
I have to say that just because someone is speeding, it doesn't make them an idiot. The only time I speed "badly" is when I am the only person on the road. In which case. I will not be hurting anyone else. On top of the fact, most people who speed like that, either know what they are doing and thats fine, they'll have one hell of a ticket, but thats ok. The other people who speed like that are just stupid and are trying to push their car and themselves so that they look cool. Those are the ones to worry about, because those are the ones who are doing stupid crap on highways with other cars on them and what not. So there is my pointless two cents on this subject....

Can't we all just... get along... haha... yeah right, when hell freezes over.
