I called my local stealership and they said that the last time it was in they found an "airflow meter" that needed to be replaced for $213 including labor (for a 2000 Maxima SE). Is this not the same thing as the MAF?

I accelerated somewhat hard out of this parking lot then it blew. RPM's dropped and the car eventually cut off not 30 seconds after that. I had to start it 3 times to get it to move. F'ing blows!!

I'm going with a TTZ MAF in 2 weeks, my MAF has degraded to a point where smoking a 4th gen is a bit of an issue.

TTZ MAF is killer, almost never ever will you see it go bad. Its not a direct plug n play affair thou, and you need the ECU recalibrated to use it. I have Greddy Emanage for tuning and it allows for diff MAFs to be used. I'm sick of repleacing MAFs, the newest design 22680-2Y001 is going into the car tomorrow for now. I got some nasty hesitation at low RPMs and power has seem to gone down. New coils, plugs, MAF and injector cleaning will be done this week. SeaFoam doesn't do ANYTHING to the car.

It is like how you disconnect any other wire harness. There is a clip you must push in and then pull up.

Thanks Epacy. It helped. Never done it before. Replaced MAF (part number 22680-2Y001) and the car is running great. It was unable to go beyond 3000 RPM and rough idle when warm (used to die after few seconds in park). Seem to have fixed both problems.

No problem. What year car do you have? Did you have any problems switching over the temp sensor?

On the outside of the MAF there will be a part number. You'll need a light or you can unbolt it to make it easier for you. Check what number you have and look in the faq's to see if you're is a new or old part number.

My MAF is also going to blow very soon, but I was able to get a free one through my dealer under the Nissan extended warranty. I even had my jwt popcharged on and the dealer didn't hesitate

22680AD201 $424.73
226802Y001 $90.11 (This is the one that requires the sensor transferred.)

For the 2k2 there are 2 MAF's available

Finally!! I got the actual product in the shipment. Getting the temp sensor out was kind of a ***** as it was clamped down under the terminals. Anyway, got it installed and the problem is fixed. Got the ECU cleared and no codes came back. Sometimes the car has trouble starting-the few times I started it today-and it dies out after it clicks over. Not sure if that is aftereffect from the bad MAF or what. But car drives great. Will see if the starting problem goes away.

Great. I am wondering if we need the ECU update. The note in the MAF box referred NTSB1-036 TSB. Following is the url for that TSB
http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../NTB01-036.htm

I have 2000 A/T california emissions ECU programming part number 23710-2Y173 and it is not listed in the TSB for an update. Would like to know if anyone had this part number and had ECU updated after 22680-2Y001 MAF install. Thanks.

If you are a 5 gen and not 5.5, I believe you need the update with the new product.
