Backorder on 2000 front bumpers?
Last summer I was driving my moms 2000 maxima and I hit a coyote straight in the front bumper. It cracked it really bad. She filed a claim with her insurance and went to the body shop they recommended... now it has been at least 6-8 months and it still isn't fixed. They claim the Nissan bumpers are backordered, well at least they did 6+ months ago when they last talked to us.
Is this normal? My sister brought her car into the same place and never heard back from them to fix her Mazda's mirror... I don't have the best feeling about this place.

sounds to me like you should check with a different body shop. Also, talk to your insurance agent and let them know about your experience with this shop. Some shops will take the insurance $ and try not to perform the work.

Nissan has a shortage of body collision repleacement parts right now, and ALOT of items or on backorder. If you are a owner of a new Altima and get into a fender bender, you will be waiting for a loooooooong time. The car is a such a hot seller now that prettymuch anything common that breaks on them, or any collision part is on MAJOR backorder. Word is Nissan tries to keep the repleacement parts cheap, but the company who makes them for them doesn't want to sell them cheap and the price arguing goes on and on till they reach some kinda decission. Parts for a Nissan are cheaper than domestic vehicle parts. Fenders are between 35-120 bux depending on the car, fenders for comprable domestic cars are much more.
