Do the GXE and SE look the same??

OK guys. The question here is do the GXE and SE look the same as far as body style?? i know that the se has no limiter and some other discrete differences like standard options and what not. Say there is a 2000 GXE super black and an SE 2000 super black. Do they look the same because i really like the look of all these maximas but i havent seen very many Modded up GXEs and im concerned that since im looking at a 2000 gxe that i wont be able to make it look like all these SEs out there. Please answer my questions!!!! I know this is kinda a repost of my last one GXE VS SE. i didnt get the responses i wanted in the thread so please help me out in this one!!!!

For example. I really want my maxima to look similar to this. And right now im looking at a 2000 GXE. Would it be possible to acheive the same look??

the only two cosmetic diff are the front grille... the GXE has chrome around it ... and the rear taillights....SE black tinted and the GXE Red.......and the spoiler.....dome...

You can make it look like it very easy..

besides the rims you would need the stillen kit ,se tails ,springs and struts to get a GXE to that.

SE also has a stiffer suspension (springs and sway bar), though those aren't "looks"

You guys forgot about the chrome door handles on the GXE vs. the body-colored ones on the SE.

Hey dude there is nop difference in body style between a gxe se--those are just trim levels--there are three for maximas--se-gxe-and gle gxe is usually the bottom of them-but as far as engine and body there are no differences--

That's right, no difference in the body styles, so if you change out/ add the parts (like tail lights, wheels and spoiler) it's gonna look just like an SE. Only another SE owner would know the difference and they would have to really look closely...like noticing something like the door handles and that probably wouldn't catch my eye at first.

Yeah, a while back, an .org member was selling his 5th gen "SE" here, but it had a brake light in the spoiler as well as in the rear window. That just ain't right.

I have a lowly GXE, and from a enthusiasts stand point who was going to buy the car new and mod it- GXE makes more sense, cause its lighter, it has the great engine and tranny, and same crappy suspension as all other Maximas. I saved quite alot on my GXE, and I knew my car was going to be heavily modified- so spending the extra $$$ on a stiffer stock suspension, weird rear spoiler, sucky OEM premium radio wasn't cost efficient. Check out my website for more pics.

I like the body colored handles on the SE but I prefer the smooth trunk (no spoiler) on the GXE. If you get the GXE, swapping the tails is your highest priority.

For enough money, you can make your GXE pretty damn close to an SE in looks. Being the poser I once was (I modded my 2001 GXE to be an almost complete SE look alike) what's involved is:

* Swapping out the tail lights
* Swapping out the silver badging for black SE badging
* Adding the SE exhause finisher
* Adding the SE rims
* swapping out the gauges for white ones (I got them from a junkyard)
* I added a spoiler and fog lights

Also, there's the chrome door handles, the chrome around the grill, the pop up center console thing, and nice cloth that are a little harder to add to the GXE

Right out of the box though, a 2000 GXE will look like a glorified Camry.

All in all though, it can be done. It's pretty hard to tell my old Maxima was a GXE:

most of the items are too costly to be added on your own. You are to decide which ones really matter to you. When buying a new car, the difference between GXE and SE was 2-3 grand at least. Now when they are used, the difference is 500-1500.

Nor do the SEs standard. It's an option.

Potential? That car's already modded pretty heavily, from a cosmetic standpoint. It's got the spoiler, the SE tails, some sweet rims, tint, a dash kit, etc. It's also got a sunroof, so it's not just a no-option GXE. And it looks like it's in great shape. What kind of a deal can you get on it?

Oh yeah, that car's also got leather! The only thing I now see that's wrong with it is that nice dent in the front passenger fender. Other than that, she looks pretty nice.

I see the problem, its a AUTO ! The stripped down versions where always a 5spd, as a matter a fact for 01 ONLY options on a GXE 5spd was mudflaps, cd player, spoiler, incabin filter, fog lights. Some of these where accessories, some where factory options. There was NO factory leather or fog lights on a GXE. GXE 5spd came with 15" steel wheels only, and was avalible in white or black. I would shoot myself before I bought a automatic Max.

10800, 71700 miles. Its KBB value with alot of options was 9600. Is 10800 a good price to be paying for that car with its mods and everything?? i feel that it is.

I think most would say that mods theoretically lower a car's value. Even if that's not the case in your opinion, you can make the seller compensate for the mods. The car also needs some fender work, so there's no reason you should pay over blue book value.

You should offer him 9k and see if he bites.

Yes, but are you sure that this is the nicest/newest Max you will find in your area for $10,500?

Low ball him then you can move up....tell him 9500 then if he says no...give him your phone number and say well if you change your mind give me a call....he will call back in a day and say like 500 less than he is asking...falling in love with a car is ok but not when you are trying to buy it....act like your not interested....it works....trust me...I know from experience...when we were buying my car two years ago....my grandpa was able to get my max down from 17,500 to 15,500 by doing that same thing...he offered him 14,000 I think then worked up from there....it really works...you can get some killer deals on cars that way....

The first thing I notice about a GXE is the wheels and no fogs...that's just a quick glance to tell me it's not an SE

yeah i noticed that too. plus i do notice the trims, how on the GXE the door handles are chrome and so is the grille. In general everyone has told me that the body style looks the same cept for some minor things. which is really good. I do want to get Angel Eyes for whatever maxima i get. They are soo lovely.
