I'd expect to pay just about even with Invoice on this due to the model year coming to an end and the leaking news about the 2002 model having a 3.5L in it. Maybe even below invoice. Invoice on a loaded 5spd should be somewhere around $27,xxx. I'm too lazy to actually look it up and do the math. Where are you located??? That would also make a difference.

If you're a performance guy, though...check out http://www.avalonracing.net/2001maxima.htm. You can buy the Avalon Racing Anniversary Edition directly from the Nissan dealer in Londonberry, NH and they will ship it to you modified and under warranty. Not a bad deal for a limited edition.

Carsdirect

Look into www.carsdirect.com as they receive pricing of about 250.00 over invoice. The nice thing as they have already negotitated the paperwork (ie. dealer) charge in this so you won't be hit with the additional charge in finance office (usually 300 or more ). Ask for Vern if you call......great guy. I ended up even under dealer invoice .....I recieved the advertising $$$ also to accept car prior to month end in October.

I don't think that local dealers will be apt to sell as much less than MSRP as it is limited and supposedly the factory has already completed the run. My local dealer wants 1500.00 over MSRP (31k) for my same car.....and they are not shy with it written on window and up on front stand. It is the only other Majestic Pearl I've seen in S. Florida....we do have alot of Super Blacks and Sterling Mist's running around though !!!!!

I bought mine for 29,000,with titles and tags.....the sticker will be about 32,000, and the dealer will be a big ***....cuz they really dont need u. If u got the money right there, that will help big time, cuz i pulled the check out,and said "I WILL WRITE A CHECK RIGHT NOW,FOR 29,000 ON THE ROAD,OTHERWISE, SORRY"....they love seein the money

I purchased my car in Jan 2001. The sticker price was $30,600 and the dealer was running a $4,000 discount so I purchased it for $26,600. No wheelin and dealing, just walked in, test drove it and asked for the color I wanted. They had it in stock and it was a done deal.

2AE is not worth it.. rather get a SE then soup it up ur self. DO not get from avalon racing. U can mod watever u want urself, its better. you can get parts cheaper this way.

hope this helps

You can mod yourself, but the Avalon Edition is 100% under warranty. This is good IMHO...simplifies the situation. Nissan will never question warranty work since the Avalon Edition is actually purchased from Nissan post-modification and guaranteed under manufacturers warranty.

AE's worth it if you like having a limited edition vehicle...and Avalon gives you an even more LE model. Depends who you are.

Still negotiating...

I am waiting for my 5SP AE. Local dealer wants 32K+. So I went thru carsdirect.com. They had to order one built special for me. 8 weeks turned into 3 months. I believe that calls for a serious discount. They were telling me 27.4K. But I should be able to go for under 27K.

I almost settled for an Auto but I saw that new commercial!!

That, is your opinion. I am quite satisfied with my AE and I don't know where you get your information. Many add ons to the SE are standard on the AE, hence the higher base price. And there are items only available to the AE.

Your label in the forum is "newbie" and by expressing such an ill-conceived opinion, it shows.

Well said, srmtn! Not only that, LucentAUTO, but I'd put money down that you didn't do your homework when talking about Avalon Racing. Michael98033 pretty much summed it up with the warranty statement. Not to mention, the guys up at Avalon Racing do this stuff for a living so not only do they know what they're doing, but they're providing a product that is even more rare than the AE is in the form of a Special Edition AE. And, I might add, they're GREAT to deal with.

On the topic of AE being worth it... since it's a limited production run, perhaps the intangibles related to that fact alone are worth it to NeO OnE 2.

One last note... are you really an Authorized Stillen Dealer, LucentAUTO? Perhaps you should revise your sig. 'Nuff said.

LucentAuto...After being on the .org for awhile, the first thing you'll learn is that people LOVE their Maxes around here. Even more, they know their stuff so I would make sure to have info to back up careless comments. Not a flame...just a word of wisdom.

Gearing Up

I have to admit that $$$ for $$$ the AE is a better buy than the SE. Most options are standard, hence the premium in price, and some mods (chrome door sills, gear shift, petals) are already included. Add in the unique and limited paint and you have a winner and is truly limited. It is the extra 5 horsepower that .....well seems a little oversold!!!!

Do the Maxima.Org stickers still provide 10hp a piece??? If so, I 'll take ten )))))

Well I bought a 2k SE with all options 11 months ago and got it for invoice plus $500 on the 30th of the month. Go late in the month as they are desperate to make their quotas.
I also in advance got Nissan to send me a $500 incentive check if I bought a new Maxima, so the end result was right
at invoice or $26,000.
Don't hessitate to write to Nissan headquarters in Los Angeles and ask for some money. You have nothing to loose and in only costs one stamp. Also $500 to them on a $30K car is peanuts.

Thanks! I wish I had a $1 for everyone I've talked to about the hood cover! I ordered from www.saddleman.com and it is the LeBra version. It is an excellent piece...fits snugly. I had tried the Nissan version and with that, I had to purchase the entire kit knowing it wouldn't fit due to the body kit. All I wanted was the hood piece and they wouldn't split it or get me a deal. When I got it home, it was a joke...wouldn't fit. So, took it back and went shopping. I'm very pleased with it, and I think it adds just a little to the appearance. It ran me about $47 with shipping costs.

Nice rack.

Smrtn, that bra is definitely worth it for the looks alone.
It is also a necessity with all the paint chips you will avoid. Like Will Smith said..."I gots to get me one of these!"

Two weeks till I get my baby...

Ooops

Spelled your name wrong. I meant srmtn.
Anyway $47 bucks sounds like a good deal. I know it will be sweet on the Ice Pearl too.

I can attest to that! Sorry for the poor quality of the pic but you get the idea.

Depending on how you look at it, I paid around invoice. (If you believe the dealer's trade-in value of my old car, I paid $200 over invoice. If you believe what *I* think the trade-in was worth, I paid $300 under invoice. )

Also keep in mind that there was (and is) a $500 kickback from nissan to the dealers around here in the midwest, plus the usual 3% holdback. I also bought the car on the last day of Nissan's fiscal quarter.

(Now the guys who *really* made money off of me for doing absolute crap were the taxing and licensing bodies; City, county, state and feds. But I digress...)

I also had an Audi A4 2.8Q (and even the BMW 330xi) on my short list, but I ultimately needed a larger car...
