Wheel Experts/offset

I Will Be Getting Wheels Soon For The Summer. I See A Lot Of People Mention Offset. From What I Know, My Stock Se Wheels Has An Offset Of 45. My Question Is Does Offset Make A Difference In The Way The Car Rides And What Is The Max/min Offset I Should Consider? Also, What Does The Offset Do For The Way A Rim Fits?

Try not to go to crazy with offset. When you buy rims for the car, the manufacturers have all the offset info in their databanks. They usually have a good recommendation for what to use. Just stick with that so you don't end up killing a wheel bearing or something like that. The offset effects how a rim sits on the actual hub. Do you ever notice how some rims look super deep dish, while others are very close to the outer edge of the car. What you don't want to do is push the wheels out so far that the rims are "hanging onto the wheel hubs by a thread." Dude, take a look at Primax 786 18" x 7.5" hyper silver. I have them on my car and they sit just right in the fenderwells. I run 225/45/18 tires and a 43mm offset. I think thats the stock offset, but with the rims being .5" wider, and the slightly lower profile on the tires, the set up looks great to me. I got to get some pictures going soon. I'll have my rim's back on this Saturday.

you are not going to kill wheel bearings from choosing optimal offset for your rims.

what size rims were you thinking of getting?

The offset is how far the wheel will stick out. The lower the number, the farther it will stick out. For example, I used to have 350z rims, 18x8 30mm offset that fit fine, which if my car was lowered a lot would have rubbed the fender. I have 6th gen 18x7.5's now, 35 mm offset, that are fine, and the 350z rims wouldnt have fit now that I am on Tein springs and Illuminas. Anything from 35-45mm should work, depending on the width of the rim, and if you are on stock suspension you can get away with going lower than 35.

I'm running a 245 tire on an 8" rim with 40mm offset. I'm lowered on H-Techs and I've never had a problem. Just my $.02

I am looking at getting an 18 inch rim. I plan on drop towards the middle of Summer. Sounds like I need to stay between 35 and 45?

they are 40mm offset; unless you are using 5mm spacers.
