Negotiate with him. Tell him you missed the shipping costs and if he doesn't knock it down to a reasonable number for both of you, you'll give him NASTY reviews for trying to scam you. It looks like he does a decent amount of selling. He might be reasonable.
kpazzo is a respected long time org member. $350 for a 4 month old set is not a bad price IMO. You should have looked more carefully at the entire auction bill.
It's not a scam. Listing an inexpensive price and high shipping cost is commonplace on Ebay. It actually is a good idea, especially if the buyer and seller are in the same state....it avoids more sales tax.

the shipping isnt actual shipping....
you shouldve asked though.
did you really think you where getting them for $.99 ???
dont pay...
You dont have to pay. Selling the way he did is actually an Ebay violation. As someone stated, people do it to avoid Ebays selling fees.

I Am interested in the struts, but I would have stopped biding at $220. If he is willing to talk to me, we could work something out and avoid any issues.
Its a decent price for 4 month old struts... and he's a pretty established .Org member... a donating member too I believe (not that it matters, but it gives ya some sense that he's not here short term to scam).
I think selling that way on eBay is fine, even though its against their rules... I'd do it...
More importantly:
1. Next time read ALL the terms, shipping, etc of the auction before buying.
2. Ask us BEFORE you buy if you're gonna ask us.

it's a good deal....$351 is well worth it for illuminas.....KPazzo is a regular here, and he posted about this auction on the org someplace, noting that the shipping was high to keep seller fees down....
I saw that auction because I was looking at getting some myself. The first thing that popped into my head was, "wow, I wonder why no one has bid on these?" After evaluating the auction, it was pretty apparent why.
I thought that was pretty sneaky myself for an unsuspecting bidder. But I know when something seems too good to be true, there is usually a reason. Even so, it is a pretty decent price on them.
On one hand, you should have read the whole thing, so you get DOH! points. On the other hand he did something that is technically unethical by ebay standards. If it got ugly, ebay would have to side with you because of policy.
I think you guys should work something out, come to a resolution that can make both of you happy. Otherwise, it's a lose-lose for you both.

To be honest with all of you, I'd list it the exact same way for not only the fees, but to get the price I want out of them. Which is probably what -K- is doing. He wants 350.00 for these, but the hopes of the auction getting up there is somewhat slim, so you start the bidding at some rediculous low price, but tack on the shipping to the actual amount you are looking to get out of it.
Sneeky Sneeky.....but smart.

Who in their right mind would sell 4 month old Illuminas for $0.99 anyway? $350.99 shipped for Illuminas? I'd buy em if I had the money.

I said that this is a sneeky way of doing things. Not necessarily the right way.
People just need to read, and pay attention. This auction was setup for rhyme and reason, and apparently it worked. No one should get mad cause they weren't thorough and fell into it.

What exactly did he fall into? A scam, or a good deal? If the buyer wasn't scammed, Ebay surely was.
For the record, I'm not against people jacking up the shipping price, a little bit. But, I personally feel that $350 is just way too... deceitful. If it costs you $20 to ship something, and you charge $50-60... that's cool. I'm fine with that, because you have to factor in other things like time, and effort.
Well taken that half the people on here thinks that it was wrong, and the other half thinks that it was a great deal. It really doesn't matter what I think then. So he's riding the fence trying to decide if he's been taken or not, because of a shipping quote? Go somewhere else and try to get them for that price then.
We could sit here and go back and forth all day, which I don't really care to do. But in this case I can see how this can be taken either way. Maybe, it's cause I see its still a fair price regardless of how it was listed, while others might see it as someone ending up with the shortend of the stick.
Hope it works out for ya, threadstarter........I've spoken with and have known Kpazzo from here for a longtime, really don't think he's out to do you wrong though. GL

I e-mailed him last night at around 9:00 est. Still haven't heard back from him and no, I wasn't expecting to get these for 0.99 cents, I figured that it was $35.01 stanard shipping for U.S. and since I was the only bidder (should have taken notice of that) we would agree on a price or simply go our seperate ways. Still trying to contact him, with no success.
