Rear brake pad install help! Please!
went to switch out my old brake pads, on my 2000 maxima, and i cannot get the brake piston back in to put the caliper back on the rotor!! Is there some sort of trick, or method, im stuck!
yes, get the tool it looks like a cube with protruding notches, and it fits on any 3/8" drive socket wrench. The basic idea is that you have to turn the rear pistion like a screw to get it to compress back. good luck, if you can't find the tool ask anyone who works there, they will be able to point it out. You can use needle nose pliers also if you are not near a parts store. Also be sure to lubricate the boot around the piston so that it does not bind when you are turning it ( i used wd-40, but have been told that it could be harmful to the rubber boot, but knock on wood i had no problems ) .
