I'm not sure how to fix sunroofs, but I'll ask one question. Have you disconnected the battery recently? If you have then for some reason the sunroof acts wierd for a couple of days, and then resets and goes back to normal. Usually I have to use the rocker switch to inch the roof back( or forward) because the slider switch doesn't work until the roof resets itself. This happens everytime I disconnect the battery. Hopefully thats your problem. My buddy installs all kinds of power roofs, and he told me that my model does that when you disconnect the battery or lose power. See if you can move the roof forward or backward with the other switch (I have two switches in my 2002) Your profile doesn't list the year of your car. Good luck.

hold down the button that would bring the sunroof down if you had it flipped up. hold it down until it clicks. that's the sunroof reset. if that doesn't fix it, i think you're in for a trip to the stealership..
From page 2-29 of your owner's manual:
Quote:
Restarting the sunroof sliding switch
The sliding switch will become inoperable after
the battery terminal is disconnected, the electrical
supply interrupted and/or some abnormality
detected. Use the following re-set procedure
to return sunroof operation to normal.
1. If the sunroof lid is open, push the tilting
switch repeatedly toward tilt DOWN to fully
close the lid.
2. After the lid has closed all the way, keep
pushing the tilting switch toward tilt DOWN
for more than 1 second.
Trying holding down the Tilt Shut button for 10 secs or until the sunroof responds and then try opening and closing it again... that seems to work for me. If not, check em fuses...Restarting the sunroof sliding switch

I cant get to my car for 2 hours but I will post when I get home from work if this infact works. I sure hope so. Thanks guys!
It'll work. I've had to do it several times. Stealership wanted about $300 to fix it when my car was in the shop for another reason. I laughed and showed the service manager how to work on a car he should know inside and out.

I would just about bet that the dealership knew what the problem was, but hey, they have to uphold their rep right? lol hope this is it for your benefit.

it's on the same fuse as your power windows, it's a box type fuse, under your hood in hte box to the left of your battery........it's labeled but i think it's the second down on the right, or the first 40 amp, the one above is huge and it's 80, it's one of two main fuses(fuel pump)
yeah i've had to do this plenty of times....i actually just stumbled upon it... when my sunroof wouldnt slide back and forth i noticed that it tilted, then i just held the button for the tilt 'up' for a while, and ta-da! it worked....it hasn't done anything since if that makes you fell any better

Glad your all set PDT447 because I almost sh*t a Miata when it happened to me. I called my buddy and told me what to try, and it made my day too. The dealership probably would have charged a fortune.
