how do you store your extra tires?

Hi all,

I just got a set of 17" Flik Arctic with Ziex 512s and shod my car with them yesterday. I was thinking of keeping the boxes, and putting my stock 16" rims with my snows on them and store them that way in my shed (no heat). Does anyone have a better suggestion? I store my MR2 all seasons and V700s just by stacking them up in my garage, but they are heated. What is the best way?

Thanks,

JimL

I can't say I've ever heard specific advice on the storage of tires, but I would reason that if they are fine sitting on my car outside all winter they would be just as fine sitting in a shed.

I think all that matters is....keep the rubber off direct contact with cement....and lay them down so no flat spots develop. That's all I ever heard about tire storage.

from what ive heard, when you stack tires without the rims, the lower tire gets squeezed to much... it is better to have shelves and put 1 tire per shelf. but with the rims on, since the pressure is in the tire, I guess the lower tire doesnt get as squeezed... I may be wrong though. as for the temperature, Im not sure theres a significant impact.

Tires without rims must be stored vertically, tires with rims must be stored horizontally.

Here at falken all of our tires are stored in racks vertically on top of each other. In a regular warehouse no heating etc....hope this helps.
