Just got a G-tech now Question

ok well i want to put in my cars weight. well on the drivers side lock piller the gross vehical weight of the car is 4370lbs is that what you all entered into the G-tech? cause that seems REALLY HIGH.

I know these cars are heavy as hell but is that for real, if so did you enter in the cars weight + your weight at the time or just the cars weight?

Your car weighs aproximately 3300lbs. Gross weight is the most weight the car hold, including the weight of the car. So, basically...your car can only carry an additional 1000lbs.

the GVWR is the weight of the car w/o passengers or cargo but with all the fluids leveled and a full gas tank. I THINK you only need to enter your vehicles GVWR. Make sure it asks for the GVWR, not the curb weight.

Curb Weight + Payload Capacity = GVWR

I have a G-tech also. Your supposed to take that 4370 rating and subtract 180 pounds per person not in the car. But I don't like those instructions because are we calling it a 5 passenger or a 4 passenger? The more weight you say it has, then the higher the horsepower rating would appear on the g-tech. For laughs, program in 6500 pounds, and see how much HP it says you have. Your best bet is to go to a scrapyard or truck weigh station to get an exact weight with you in the car. This is also better because all of the mods like:Heavier rims or lighter rims, stock muffler/aftermarket muffler, speaker boxes, rear sway bar (should have come as standard equipment, but didn't, so we all added one) and other mods would show up on the scale. If you use the door weight, it won't give you the exact weight that it truly is, and in order to get the best results, you'll need that. I haven't had the time to search out a weigh station, so I didn't get any good readings yet. I tried a couple of different weights, and got comical results like 78HP. But soon,I'd like to get a rough idea of what HP my baby is pulling. Good Luck.

I'm lost. Are you saying that our cars, will all fluids inside of them, weigh over 4000lbs? Because if you are, I think you're absolutely wrong. I've seen people weigh their Maximas, and I distinctly remember seeing marks of ~3300lbs.

Sorry NYPD. My Fault. I misinterpreted the book i was reading.

"Curb Weight is generally referred to as the total weight of the vehicle with no cargo or passengers, but a full tank of gas and all fluids correctly leveled."

"Gross Weight is the total rated capacity of the vehicle for passengers and cargo plus the vechile weight."
