please HELP!!!
please HELP!!!
my 2k i30 died! Here's the story. Car wouldn't start, was told by my uncle who took it to Goodyear Service, that the alternator was dead. Replaced alternator, charge battery, car started ran for 30 mins. Drove around town got home, dash lights (abs, brake, battery etc..) begin blinking sporadically. Now it's dead again. This happened last nite so I don't have a thorough troubleshoot/analysis.
Observations last nite: The battery is lkely still charged, but may be getting weak. This is what happens when i try to start. The starter clicks (a sign of a weak battery). I hear two servo(?) motors, one corresponding with the abs light and the other is most likely the motormount.
Has anyone ever experience this before? I hope it's not the freakin motormounts! Please give suggestions I've been riding in my truck for the past 2 weeks b/c of this.

sounds like you got a bad alt. or something is not hooked up correctly. Lots of time the battery will go out the same time as the alt. You should take it in and get it load tested. Can get it done at most auto parts stores. That would be the easiest first thing to do. If that is not it take the alt back off and get it tested or take it where you had it put on at and make them do it. I would check the battery first, If that is it you could upgrade to the Optima.
no it's not the battery, had pepboys do a load test and charge. They said everything is good. It's showing the same symptoms b/f the alternator replacement. I did the alternator replacement myself. I do need to check the connections w/ a multimeter though. I'm hoping it's not the tsb on the wiring harness. thanks for the suggestion though

I can almost guarantee if you buy an OEM alternator you will not have any problems mine dod the exact same thing and I put 2 alternators in from pep boys till I realized pep boys sux. Our Nissan's love the Factory Parts, get it from the dealer. If it is OEM ignor all this babble.....
Let's put it this way: battery is not being charged. It could be alternator (happens), or fuses - one under the dashboard and another under the hood. There's a simple test for alternator initial current that you can try - when the car is off try to place iron screw driver in about 1 mm near the alternator pulley. If somebody would turn it on-off-on-off you should feel weak magnetic pull from the alternator when key is in 'ON' position. Be careful not to start the engine. BTW, is your 'charge' lamp is lit when the key is in ON position? If it is - don't bother with the fuse under dashboard, it's OK. From my own experience shops often install alternators that provide insufficient power output for Maxima. One such device went out on my friend's Max after couple weeks.
hey thanks for the replies guys, i finally found time to diagnose the problem. It turn out to be a loose connection. I think for the lamp/ic regulator? or the fusible link fuse, basically i think the ecm didn't tell the alternator to charge the battery due to the loose connection. But everythings been working for a night so i think the problems solved. I'm still waiting another day b/f i can be confident about it's resolution.
Btw, i did replace my alternator w/ an oem unit. I didn't think maxima alternators were so expensive! $275 stock $260ish aftermarket bosch!
