uh...with all do respect, Assuming similar trannys, advancing your timing 3 degrees alone wont make up the 33hp/29 lb-ft deficit.

Hey Jason, Adam brought his Black 6spd over last night and he took me out to show off his new short throw -- you DEFINITELY need to get one.

If I remember correctly it is an HP autoworks STS -- I think he got it through a Group deal.

5.5genners seem to forget that they actually have the 245HP VQ35, same one used in the Murano. It's a known fact that Nissan overrated the engine. And I said "keep up" I never said beat. Get it straight.

Beyond the speculation, i doubt you ever really tested that statement out, and if you are still wondering, whenever you want you can try to keep up with my car : ] Arm chair racing is kinda silly, and getting your timing advanced still won't help you keep up with an auto 5.5gen which is more or less the same performance level of a 6 speed (according to time slips). If you can break into low 14's i'll eat my words, but your still talking ish without proof.

What? An auto 5.5 does 6.5 0-60 and mid-14s in the 1/4s. A 6spd does very low 6 and low-14s in the 1/4. The difference between a 6spd and an auto is pretty big.

For reference my car did 6.9 seconds 0-60 (redline shifting), dunno what it does now with the timing advance. Like I said, keep up...not beat. You 3.5 guys need to ease up.

You've got an awesome car!

Wash the max yourself, not too often though, to avoid swirls...black is an awsome color, as long as its maintained well...

I love how everyone on here is like: Yo, you just had your car totalled, had to pay your deductables, and had to put money down on a new car. Get out there and buy a whole bunch of stuff because even though it is better than your last, you need to drop like 3Gs on all this stuff to be accepted. Yo-

WTF. Congrats and glad you didn't get killed I think works well enough. Jason knows what makes a Maxima look good, he doesn't need the peanut gallery chiming in to help him along. Not to mention my man is a military man.

For those of you who don't know, that means he make less money than the national average due to our wonderful government that refuses to realize soldiers and their families cannot live on a salary less than 30k a year.

What ever happened to just saying

he is not the only military man on this site. i am a military man too. i am living very comfortable on my salary, and what business is it of yours to tell others what to say? he posted pics of his new car, not about him getting in accident. he wants people to say nice car!!! he was also able mod the last car too, why can't he be able to afford to mod this one? so don't talk about how much he gets paid and not able to afford it.

He can mod the car, he can afford it, but the point is, that people talk like he has this amazing amount of disposable cash laying around. I was military, 8 years, and I KNOW what is it like, I know the pay, and I know that when I got out I instantly doubled my montly income as a civilian. If you want to brag about how BLING you got it then great.

There are people who are in, out, and retired military that would like you to have the salaries you deserve, don't get your panties in a waad when people are soap-boxing for you. Just take the credit and stop thinking that I am saying you are poor. I know what you make, I know that you can live 'comfortable', but that is because you probably don't know what you really should be making, and how you 'should' be living.

EDIT: Disregard.... If you didn't read between the lines the first time, then you won't get it the 2nd time. Nevermind. You are right, you make plenty of cash and you life is only worth a 2% raise every year. Good luck GI.

I am going to assume that you got out due to pay reasons. The cost of living in NoVA is riduculously high, so i see why you said you double your pay when you got out. Those companies need to pay their people that amount of money to live up there.

I never bragged about how much bling I have. I bought my car with the 19's because the previous owner sold the stock ones. I know how much I am worth on the outside, I choose to stay in because I love my job and love my country.

but enough crapping on this thread, if you want to still discuss this issue then either PM, e-mail or AIM me.

Pay was just one small reason. Others were 1 year old son, next tour was 3 years OCONUS and at the time it was downsize central, scandals (Sec. Army., SMA Kidd, etc). It was a very disenchanted time and I took a chance. I loved what I did, loved serving, but unfortunately I was worth nothing on the outside. Army Infantryman are not a hot commodity on the Corporate ladder.

Like you said, enough banter on this subject. Just know that we all thank you for your continued service and there are many of us out here pushing for better benefits for soldiers and their families. You deserve them.

I never said 'Beat' neither. Maybe you need to get that straight (or at least the reading comprehension part ) .

Let me restate my post verbatim:
Assuming similar trannys, advancing your timing 3 degrees alone wont make up the 33hp/29 lb-ft deficit.
To wit, my statement alludes to 'keeping up' as well.

While you're quick to postulate that the 5.5G has '245hp', you're also forgetting other postulations that the 5.5G has ~265lb-ft feet. Given that the 5G & 5.5G are effectively the same car (excluding the powertrain), I stand by my previous statement: assuming similar trannys, advancing your timing 3 degrees alone wont make up the power difference between the VQ30DE-K and the VQ35DE.

ya'll need to stop using my thread to argue something stupid. the 3.5 has more power and a 3.0 cant keep up with or beat a 3.5 unless it is blown

TQ is mostly beneficial from a line; when you're on the highway, you're mostly using horsepower. From a roll, I've kept up with an 03 (my uncle's), it went from 35-80. Your post clearly alluded to me being full of it, so let's not try and change our tunes here. And again, I will note that the HP difference between the 3.0 and 3.5 is 20 -- and about 10-12 in my case. Off a line, I wouldn't even bother racing a 3.5. But from a highway roll, I know I won't get pounced on that badly. I'll lose, yes...but not terribly; hence, I'll keep up.

And as far as you recording a race, MJG's car is nowhere near stock and it's a 6spd w/ HLSD.

Edit: But Sooner's right, though. I'll drop it.

Hey Soonerfan congrats on your new car. I like it. You know I was gonna buy a six speed Grey Lustre when I was buying my Max approximately 3 years ago, but I changed at the last minute and went for the Merlot with grey interior and automatic transmission.

I really don't have any regrets since mine last car was a stick and I have been driving stick for the past 15 years and I felt like getting an automatic at the time.

Good luck with the new ride and smoke those side markers!!

there is no way of losing. either you win or you lose. and if you admit that you will lose but not that bad then you really arent keeping up. keeping up is being side by side. losing (but not terribly) is still losing

I guess my definition of keeping up is different than others. I figured neck and neck is one thing and keeping up is another. *shrug*
