Is an RSB overkill with coilovers?
Is an RSB overkill with coilovers?
Just got my D2's and will be installing them soon. I currently have an Addco
RSB on the rear. Will the coilovers control the rear end enough if I remove the RSB or should I leave it on? The D2's have a 9/7 spring rate and I'm running 245x40x18 tires.

If the bar doesn't interfere with the installation you may as well keep it on. I'd just test it afterward to see if it gives you the effect you desire, if not remove it. I doubt it will negatively affect your handling, it may even make it more neutral.
You might find the ride over ruts & bumps a bit harsh with both. I'm running 12.5k/8k with the RSB (floating type) braced right up against the beam and still can't get the car loose. It's definately more neutral with the RSB though.
Like ABDomega said, it's pretty easy to remove & reinstall to test.

My concern was that the rear end might be too tight....and really move/jump around a lot especially on uneven/bumpy curves.
Yeah, no problem to remove it to gauge the differences. Shouldn't interfere with the coilover install. Actually, I'm hoping the coilovers will be fine by themselves. That way, I can use my floor jack on the rear axle again.

With Eibachs and factory struts, mine was not too bad over bumps and such during curves. Once I upgraded to Illuminas with 3F/4R settings, it does it a lot worse. Lowering my settings probably would help considerably. The RSB did not necessarily increase this problem, but sure did help stabilize the car.
Cool hopefully you have no problems like the ones I had. Seems that all I need to do is grease up the pillow ***** to stop that noise. Since its been pretty humid these past cuple of days the noise has stopped. Now all I need is an alignment, and probably the front strut bar. Good luck with the install!!!

if you find the back too tight or binded then you could adjust the bushings under the beam. if you move them closer together you will find the addco rsb allows for a little more bodyroll and becomes less effective but that may be what you need in this case. i think addco recommends 1 inch from the curved end but that is most likely for a stock vehicle which they test fit on. i messed around with mine until i found a good comprismise with my suspension setup.

I'm planning installing the D2's on May 8th. I'm going to remove the RSB before the install and see how it is with just the coilovers first.
sounds like a plan. i had mine an inch off the corner then moved them about 2-3 inches inward. it gave me enough antiroll to feel comfortable but enough what i would call articulation to really hit a corner without feeling like its in a bind. if you are comfortable with it off then it should good for sheeding some unneeded weight.
