Experiences with Frankencar Intake

I am interested in buying a frankencar intake. I've searched around and have seen mixed feedback about them. So what are your guys experiences. Any problems, or anything that would persuade me to buy one or not. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

i put mine on about a month ago. The sound is incredible. I went up to the frankencar facility to pick it up. The guys were very helpful. the only problem i had was my maf died about 2 miles after the install. After replacing that with an 01 maf, i havent had a problem yet. Im in love with the sound.

P.S.

2002 6speed with k&n filter.

YOu haven't searched hard enough. About 75% of the people on the org uses either Frankencar or Berk for warm air intake. Yes, they are great intakes. As far as problem goes, maybe you will maybe you won't. You might have issues with your MAF or you might not. Do we all recommend Frankencar intake? Yes we do. End of discussion.

Not sure what their business is like now but there's a reason you're reading mixed reviews about them. It took me five months to get my intake shipped to me. With that said, it's a pretty cool intake. Power increase is negligible. Throttle response is quicker. At WOT over 4K, it screams like a race car. It's all about the sound, which is very addicting. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably look elsewhere. I love the intake but the buying experience was very sour.

i dont know about the berk but i assume it wont fit. I called the frankencar guy and he was very nice because i was going to pick up a 2k3 frankencar intake but the guy said that the connection to the throttle body is diff then the 2k and 1 other thing. he told me that i would have to buy a whole new midpipe to make it fit which would end up costing about as much as the intake goes for normally.

i dunno the guy at frankencar told me that they were different. said that a 2k2-2k3 will not fit the 2k-2k1 because the connector was diff and the only way it would work was if i got a midpipe for a 2k and connected to the rest of the setup i would be purchasing. i talked to him directly on the phone.

If you want a loud racecar like roar when you punch your accelerator, then you'll like the Frankencar midpipe. The performance is slightly better with sharper throttle response, and better overall breathing for the engine compared to stock. I'm struggling with the idea of using the stock airbox with a K&N panel filter and modifying the Frankencar to work with that. The only reason that I'm even considering this is because I've destroyed my MAF twice before with the cone filter set-up. Read up on all the guys talking about MAF problems. Our MAF sucks, so no one here can really tell you if it'll sh*t the bed or not. But the midpipe is cool, and you always have the option of modifying it to suit you personal tastes.

It is similar to the Berk... very similar... and I have a Berk... had it for over 7K miles now with no problems whatsoever... well, I've lost mpg, but only because I'm always tempted to shift at 5k rpms just to hear the intake...

For sounds clips of the FC intake... go to:

I think it'll only blow if you have 2 in series and 2 opposite, or will it cancel out ...

a midpipe, whether through berk or frankencar is a must have mod. if i wrecked my maxima tomorrow, and the whole thing went up in flames, my first mod would be frankencar midpipe and apexi filter (i've had the k&n cone filter, but i've convinced myself that i can tell the difference in the sound, and that i like the sound of the apexi filter better).
be warned, however, that with the frankencar midpipe comes a seven or eight inch peice of aluminum that bolts the intake (at the MAS) to the car, as a support. i broke this peice of aluminum in two last week. this is not to say that the whole kit is garbage (and i haven't heard of anyone else having this problem), just keep in mind that after about a year of use, you MAY need to replace this aluminum support bracket.

I have had my Frankencar on my car for over 7500 miles now and i have not really had any problems at all. You will end up using more gas as others have said just because your gonna want to floor the gas alot more and you will be shifting at higher RPM to hear that awsome sound it gives out at WOT.

I would def get one if i were you!

Cattman and I performed back-to-back dyno runs with my car with the Frankencar intake pipe with the Apexi filter and the JWT Pop Charger filter. We showed a consistent 3-5 HP gain across the board with the Pop Charger. We attributed this to the smooth venturi cast into the JWT unit vice the blunt step in the Apexi. It's all about turbulence and flow rate...

Oh, and the JWT sounds great as well.

Gab

I just ordered my GAB intake and received it UPS overnite - free shipping.
Right now, UrbanAirFlowExperts is having a sale on them - Free to the first
200 buyers, as long as you give them a friend's email address. Awesome
sound, proven hp results and hell, who doesn't have an enemy's email
address to donate so UAFE can annoy with spam.
