could a leak in my y-pipe throw a P0455 code?
as some of you know, i had some issues installing my y pipe, and to make a long story short, only 2 bolts on the front pipe are holding it, instead of 3. we checked it immediately before driving, and there was no leaks, but after driving im sure its loosened itself a bit. anyway, about 4-5 days, maybe more, after the install, the SES came on. it was on for a week, and on my way to Autozone, it turned itself off. came back on a day later. Autozone ran the code for me, gave me the P0455, and rest it. the next day, about 25-30 miles later, it came back on.
is there any way this could be the y pipe? everything i have read about this is that its an evaporation canister or something like that, or a loose gas cap. it just seems too coincidental that it came on less than a week after my y pipe fiasco.

Well, if it was a y-pipe problem it would've cam on within the first few trips in the car. It is a LARGE EVAP leak code, loose cap like you said. Possible causes:
Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close.
Incorrect fuel tank vacuum relief valve
Incorrect fuel filler cap used
Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap.
Leak is in line between intake manifold and EVAP canister
purge volume control solenoid valve.
Foreign matter caught in EVAP canister vent control valve.
EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks
EVAP purge line (pipe and rubber tube) leaks
EVAP purge line rubber tube bent.
Blocked or bent rubber tube to EVAP control system pressure
sensor
Loose or disconnected rubber tube
EVAP canister vent control valve and the circuit
EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve and the
circuit
Fuel tank temperature sensor
O-ring of EVAP canister vent control valve is missing or damaged.
EVAP control system pressure sensor
Refueling control valve
ORVR system leaks
Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close.

Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap.

EVAP control system pressure sensor
Refueling control valve
ORVR system leaks
From the FSM:
This diagnosis detects a very large leak (fuel filler cap fell off etc.) in EVAP system between the fuel tank and EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve.
Malfunction is detected when EVAP control system has a very large leak such as fuel filler cap fell off, EVAP control system does not operate properly.
Possible Cause:
-Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close.
-Incorrect fuel tank vacuum relief valve
-Incorrect fuel filler cap used
-Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap.
-Leak is in line between intake manifold and EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve.

-EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks
-EVAP purge line (pipe and rubber tube) leaks
-EVAP purge line rubber tube bent.
-Blocked or bent rubber tube to EVAP control system pressure
sensor
-Loose or disconnected rubber tube
-EVAP canister vent control valve and the circuit
-EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve and the circuit
-Fuel tank temperature sensor
-O-ring of EVAP canister vent control valve is missing or damaged.
-EVAP control system pressure sensor

alright thread jackers, quiet down now
actually, this morning i took off my gascap, and as soon as i did, i *thought* like it felt like it wasnt on right. i tightened it, drove to work, and the SES went off. so ill monitor that for a few days and see what happens. thanks you 2. now you can go back to your DSL discussion.
