Someone do me a huuuuuuge favor?

I need to know the EXACT measurement of the Maxima stock Bose head unit (so, if one removed it, what size the hole would be)

Height / Width at top / Width at bottom

I am "sure" the Max kit wont fit my i30, because I tried one. However, the guys at Best Kits say they think THEIR Max kit will fit (ha ha)

I want to know before I order.

Whoever does this for me ROCKS.

I say get the GXE dash from DaveB. Otherwise you're gonna have a nasty black piece of plastic. Unless Best Buy matches our dash colors, which I doubt they do.

1. You understand that I'm >95% sure a Max dash kit will not fit my car;

2. I said "Best Kits" not "Best Buy" but you're still right, it would be black plastic. But I'd rather look at smooth, well-fit black plastic than what I'm lookin at now. I've spent $500 trying to make my dash look good, and it looks worse than ever.

1. Doh... you got pics?

2. Well.. if that kit is made by the people who make the crutchfield kits, its not a nice fit

Well pix will mislead u, but yes they're around. If you sit in a Max, then go somewhere and sit in an i30, you'll say "hell yeh, they'll fit" but (I believe) the actual measurements are up to an inch different;

Okay ya big baby I'll do it!

The radio itself (not the trim) is 7" x 4.25"

The face of it is ~9" wide top ~8.5" wide bottom and ~4.75" tall.

Thats for the "premium" sound system, not the bose. The head units should be exactly the same size.

Re: btw

I feel ya on this one. The kit I bought looked like a turd in my dash and this is the only kit that is one the market right now. I bought a gxe dash kit and it doesn't fit properly with those dashes with auto climate control. I was outta 500.00 to have this guy special make one outta wood and brushed aluminum billet to match my dash it looks good but it would have been better to have a company to make one tha matches the dash and properly fits. More power to ya acitrano!

Do you still have the GXE dash? If so do you want to sell it?

That's what makes this so much fun... they do LOOK identical .. but are, in fact, NOT identical.

Thanks for doing that.

Mine is (the "hole" in the dash, the measurements a dash piece would have to be):

9.75" wide at top
8.875" wide at bottom
4.625" tall

sux.

Ok, if you want to make it fit you can either pay someone to do a custom fabrication or do one yourself. I have worked on a custom fabrication to mount a head before. We used plexiglass, plastic and bondo then sanded it down and painted it. It looks mint, but its on a mustang not an infinity. But it might be worth a try.

I have paid to have custom pieces made twice. But they were made of ABS and made by idiots. If I could find someone who really knew their stuff I would be very very interested. (I think I found some good guys nearer to Boston who come highly recommended, their custom work looks great, but I haven't driven down there yet.. maybe I'll go tomorrow)
