New windshield

Has anyone had their windshield replaced? Mine's pitted out and I can hardly see when the sun is low. If you've got any tips or suggestions or chain shops to avoid I'd love to hear them. What where you charged, or what whould you have been charged if insurance hadn't paid for it? The fact that I have a compass seems to be important (I tried to get a quote online and they called asking if I had a compass).

The compass have nothing to do with the windsheild. Bump! The best place and price you should get is from Safelite. They replaced my windshield, only costed me 121 bucks out of my pocket on my own. They are better than the OEM Nissan's glass. I haven't had any issues with leaks or wind noise.

Safelite was awesome in my area.. that doesn't mean they will be in your locale but it is a good company. $287 out the van.

windshield was almost 200 and then installation + tax + fees it adds up.

Good question. Perhaps the tinted spot hiding the mirror attachment point is shaped differently? I'll be contacting shops today.

"If" it ends up getting broken (for some strange reason)... Claim it on your insurance. If you have a $100 deductible, call around to several glass services and "ask if they will waive your deductible". Many will to get your buisness, and it ends up costing you nothing...

I've already claimed 2 windshields. Fully covered. But I don't want my premiums to go up and end up paying $200 every 6 months for it.

There are separate part numbers for windshields with and without Titanium Edition...and it's $30 more without TE...figure that one out. Safelite's done 2 windshields for me. They have reattached the wipers wrong and lost the caps that cover the nuts that hold the wipers on. The first windshield nearly wore through with all the pitting in about 2 years. I think I might try to avoid them.

I'm on my third windshield and I have a chip in the new one now.
