Rain-X is recommended by most of the org. it reduces the glare and the appearance of scratches, not necessarily "fix" the scratches.

yeah the rain-x works good, however if it bad, nothing can help it. if your ins. will replace it... break it and get a new one. if you get a new one get a NISSAN one, aftermarket sucks.

I have to disagree with you on the Nissan's glass. Nissan's glass SUCKS! I've seen a lot of nissan/Infiniti out there that have a cracked windshield. I got mine replace by Safelite. I haven't had any issue with leaks or wind noise. Best of all, it doesn't cost you a lot, compare to Nissan's glass cost you $650 bucks just for the glass!

Is there various kinds of Rain-X out there in the market?

I'm getting new blades and gonna get some Rain-X too and install and use after I wash the car!

i have had the same 1 inch crack in my Nissan glass for three and a half years now... has not spread at all. the only reason i have not replaced it is because it is on the passengers side, so i dont care...

I've had one replaced due to a crack, one (the replacement) replaced because I couldn't see from all the pitting, both fully covered by insurance. I'm about to replace mine very soon for pitting, but I might forego an insurance claim to prevent premium increases. Seems like all widnshields are cheap crap now...or I just do too much highway driving in a state the loves sand in the winter. Sometimes there's more sand than snow.

Get Rain-X blades, apply Rain-X on the glass, and if there are a lot of pits, you can go to a place like Auto Glass Specialists and have them fill the holes.

Yeah, i'd go with a new windshield if you've got the money. the factory nissan windshields use relatively soft glass, which is more prone to pitting.

you should be able to buff it out. My paint guy told me that many shops instead of replacing the lenses with new parts, that they would buff it out with a buffer. Looks brand new again..

Not sure if this would work on glass though.

buy mother plastic polish for the head lights. Works just like car wax. Rub on, dry toa haze, wipe off.

I would say a new windshield for sure. Usually insurance deductible is around $100.

Bigsherv, are you sure about the mother's plastic polish? I thought all that stuff was for colored plastic or it causes hazing. I just got a new left headlight from a repair, and the right is slightly yellowed and looks sandblasted. The part I want back is not the appearance (which is only noticable up close), but you get better light out of a headlight that does not have scratched glass.

If you just got a new headlight and you are worried about the old one, i would worry about the new one more, i know 3m makes clear headlight protectors for my car (02) and i see them on e-bay alot, i would highly recommend getting them, i know as soon as i get my headlights in mint condition, either by resurfacing them or getting new ones, im pickin that 3m protector up they day their installed

go to www.griots.com (auto care supply place) and order their glass polish. It works wonders.
