ebay projector picts
ebay projector picts
would someone please post picts of ebay projectors that have not been modified.. nite time with angel eyes on would be preferred. im trying to see how brite the angel eyes are unmodified......
thanks, is the light output better than my stock with 8500k bulbs in em? and angel eyes on with park lights and headlights?? do u run a seperate switch? ps i know every1 hates these but dont have the $ for hids.
Check out my page. I have two threads on this page that should have pics of the halos at night. I never got around to wiring them and I put back my OEM AE headlights because the projectors were not as bright. It's looks great, but the performance is not that great, IMHO.

Why not just get an hid kit for the car, i think that would look even better then the projectors, you could probably get one of ebay for like 200 to 300 bucks, hey talk to blackbird he might have a set of 2k2 2k3 headligths for sale just pm him and see.
i got my maxima in feb of this year and got the projectors cuz my stock lights looked horrible yea its tru the light output of the projectors suck *** i would like to kno if i were to get HIDs would it get any better check out the lights at my homepage oh yea my car is stock so its not how i really want it to look
yea in makes my car looks so much better cuz my lights were really scratced up i tried polishing them and they still looked bad and those angel eyes jus makes me love my car so much as for the bulbs i got some crappy ones because my paycheck didn't make it so i couldn't get piaas and since im planning on getting HIDs any way im only getting the piaas for the high beams all let you know when it happens

the headlight on left is stock the one on the right is 12000k hid, this is the custommaxima max with projectors, so yes you can run the hids in the projectors
This is what an hid kit looks like, hopefully this helps you out.
These were a lost cause. Big waste opened them up and painted them all black including the chrome rings. Biggest waste of money they are just sitting in a box under my bed collecting dust. I think that the regular 2ks look better.

i wouldnt buy these headlights for using them as is... these are a great base for retrofitting. they look nasty with all black and no chrome rings but my friends say my car looks really aggressive with the lights on versus stock or AE.

first off.. Maxima505, there are no such thing as oem projectors.. the 5.5 gens have reflector based hid. Buying a kit like the one displayed above does make your output a little higher.. but not very much wtih a high kelvin rating like 10,000 or 12,000 or whatever that is displayed. Secondly, an HID KIT like the one above will still have lots of hotspots in the beam pattern (dark spots on the ground), because the same crappy projectors bowls are projecting just more light. If anyone is thinking about upgrading projectors to HID, do a retrofit, don't buy a kit (which simply replaces bulbs to hid spec). Also avoid high kelvin temperatures, anything over 5K and your decreasing light output. To answer your question maximapimpin, By retrofitting different projectors into these ebay headlights, you will achieve maximum lightoutput. These headlights off the shelf.. are very weak, not only because of the lenses, but because of their poor reflector bowls... So to sum it up for a 16 yr old... imagine taking out the hid projectors of a 2003 BMW M3 and putting them into the housing of your maxima ebay projectors... This is a retrofit. It's less expensive than buying 2k2 lights, and the lights will look MUCH cooler, and be MUCH brighter than any 2k2/2k3 out there. If you're interested in HID lighting for your maxima, talk to Dr. Roy on the .org, and you can also go to www.hidforum.com. The guys over there are great, and really knowledgeable about hid.
here's my projector housing.. soon to be retroed with BMW E46 projectors...
Might as well ask it here (a bit intimidated asking a complete n00b question @ hidplanet):
The ppl absol. hate HID kits, but what about putting a HID kit into driving lights? I have PIAA 910 driving lights w/a 110W bulb in there currently. If I go HID, will the beam pattern really suck? Also, would the output (lumens) be higher than I have currently -- true 110W vs. HID 6000K?

2k2-2k3 or retro projectors?
.....hello everyone i know this has been asked a bunch of times...but i want a concenous of what people think are better in the sence of money/time/performance/look 2k2 HIDS w/ angel eyes or going for the projectors on ebaying and retroing them?
any thoughts...thanks guys

I say go with a retro. Look around at the hidplanet.com forums and you can get an idea of what bulbs and projectors to use. Do some research, becasue you do not want to buy something you are not going to like. It takes some leg work on your part
If you have the time, do a retro, or get someone to do it for you. Right now im doing SixxOne's retro and damn that ish is tight! I have done three so far (two on an e36 and a halogen for myself with mdx) and i totally recommend it. Even if you can't afford a full HID system, putting in MDX projectors with H9 halogen bulbs or Valeo H7's will drastically increase the output of light. When I compare my light output to a stoack 2k 2k1, I feel I can see better.
Hey Sixxone, what setup are you gonna run in your retro. I'm think i'm gonna retro with a pair of e46 (like dr. roy), osram d2s capsules with phillips ballasts. What projectors are you installing? and are you replacing your angel eyes with brighter ones?
p.s. E46 are the Bosch projectors sold on hid planet

I am retroing mdx projectors in his headlights. I did an e46 on another car and even though the beam pattern was very bright and very wide imo, it just looked so bland when looking at the car. But, this was an unmodded e46 and i think some people on hidplanet have been able to get color from them with modding.

yeah i've heard that valeos are better for more color. I've seen many people get more color out of the e46 by modding the shield.... the color may have also looked bland if the capsules were new.. the bulbs may not have colorshifted yet. I heard bulbs don't start to colorshift till around 100 hours or so
i wanna buy those for my 2k max..i think they look pretty nice...their cheap and its gives a lil more spice than 2k2-2k3 headlights..and plus they come with the angel eyes...for 2k2-2k3 u have to install the angel eyes..which seems like a pain...any one selling those projectors...or anyone know where to buy for cheap?..around $150?

definatly dont put Hids in those lights - since you can see the bulb , there is nothing to block stray light from blinding oncoming traffic
So you don't think I could get a narrow beam pattern w/HID at all? B/c I don't use them now anyway w/oncoming traffic, b/c it's just too bright. I was just looking for something more bright/whiter to use while driving @ nite (rural area, deer = big problem; have hit 4 since becoming a driver).
EDIT: btw. thanks for answering my ?'s!
