****LATEST UPDATE ON 09/23/05 @ 9:38pm****

**** FINAL INSTALL PICTURES AS OF 9/23/05!! LAST PAGE!! ****

You may have seen my other thread about climate control relocation... this thread is all about the install. I will be posting pics up every day until till this massive project is done. Right now I have 30+ pics of my progress for today.

just incase you missed my other thread, here is what i am doing:

1.) relocate climate control to sunglass holder
2.) move deck to climate control's spot
3.) install touch screen tv
4.) install computer

since this is such a massive job, and i am taking a crap load of pics, I will only show a few pics on here, and i will provide a link to my photo bucket. THE PICTURES SHOW BACKWARDS... as in, pics go in order from finished product to step 1.

http://photobucket.com/albums/y192/s...ti=19&addtype=

some pics for the lazy people:

Wow, silver, this must be a real wallet-killer! How do you have time to to do it?

Anyway, I'm definitely awaiting the outcome. Good luck with it!

thanks guys for the feedback! I still have a bit more work to do on that peice before it is ready for paint. after i finish that, I am going to start working on the real fiberglass part of the project, which is the clime control in the sunglass holder.

Thebigdu: yeah, this isnt cheap... lol. but ive wanted this for so long, so i decided to splurge. (there are a few more goddies i have that i will reveal when the project is done.) and as for the time issue, thats easy... took a week of vaca from work! I get 230 hours a year for vaca, so taking a few days in not a big deal... how ever i do hope i can finish in time.

Igor911 hehe, I am always working on something custom... i am not happy unless i am working on something. if you like this, wait till the summer time when i finish my other project...

if u want, look at my car domain pages for some ideas. i did that a few yrz ago.. as for the wiring i soldered on some cat 5 cables. the trim piece around the buttons was blueprinted using solid works and was sent out to a place that lazor etched out the 1/8th in plastic. another 1/8th inch rectangle was made for the backing.

I'm just a moron, that's all.

due to my screw up, i will not be done on my dead line. it will still get done, but just a few days later. my main goal now is to get the fiberglassing done, and the tv installed... the computer can wait until next week i guess.

Well, fiberglassing is a very messy job, not to mention all the sanding i have been doing as well. i did not want to dammage the climate conrol unit, so i just used the face i cut out as a template for the fiberglass... that way i can do what ever i want and not have to worry.

Update

Sorry I have not updated in a while, I have been busy with this thing.

well, today is the last day of my vacation, and sadly i must say that the project is not done. it is close however, so I am happy about that. I restarted my fiberglass all over again, and i am on my second layer now, just one more lyer to go. also, I have started to modify the tv to get it to fit in the space. and, last but not least, 160ft of wire has been installed to run the connections for the climate control to the higher spot. (that was a PITA) remaining things left to do:

1) finish fiber glassing
2) use putty on the fiberglass to smooth out edges and fill in gaps
3.) make a custom braket to mount the climate control
4) make a custom bracket to mount the tv
5) finish installing tv.

all of this should take about 3-5 more days considering i go back to work tomorrow. i took some pics, but they are not very exciting, so i'll wait to link them up.

well, thats my update... ill be back soon to update again.

Props to you if you manage to get it done. I was going to do mine this way but I think it'd be more trouble than it's worth to mount it there. I'm working on redoing the whole shift/center console right now so that I can jam a monitor/HU/DD in...basically I am going to make the shifter & center consoles one unit.

Suffice to say, it's going slow...I should have taken a week off like you did!
