Throttle Sticking Problem
Hey guys havent posted here in a while, mainly since im buying a house have no money to mod the max any more
Im haveing a problem with my gas pedal getting stuck. It keeps getting stuck in the up position and i have no clue why. had it at a shop and they replaced some idle plunger or something that the check engine light was on for. Ever since then its been sticking, ive had it back there 5 times the cleaned the cable and lubed everthing up and cant figure out whats causing it to stick. Any idea?
Thanks

in the shops paperwork, did they list the code for the cel? i know people say this in many situations that is not necessary but you may want to clean the butterfly in the throttle body. it can get pretty covered and cause the butterfly to actually stick. as long as there is no kinks/cuts in the throttle cable and the bolts on either side are tight then i would rule that out. i would think the cel code will probably lead to more information if you have access to it.

ill have to check it out to see if its dirty at all, i cleaned the tb a few months ago, but it is possible its dirty again. Theres no cel on now. and its weird it doesnt happen consistantly its totally random. I also have to have that idle re learn process done, thank god i found that in the faq so i dont have to pay nissan to do it. im going to try that tonite

This may be a little OT, but you should definitely not hesitate on getting this problem resolved. It sounds like you're trying to get it fixed quickly, which is good.
My neighbor had a mint late 60s Vette that he used to drive once every few months. About a year ago, he decided to take it for a ride after letting it sit for several months. Long story short, the throttle cable had rusted and got stuck while he was about to go around a sharp turn. The car wouldn't slow down, and he couldn't react quickly enough. He smashed the car right into a tree. He wasn't hurt, but his baby was destroyed.
I guess electronic throttle (in the 5.5 gen Maxes) has its benefits after all...
