when i installed my speed bleeders few months ago (the ones with the "one way valve") i blead the brakes and they still feel mushy. the speed bleeders ( www.speedbleeder.com ) claim u just open the bleeder and pump the brakes as much as u want and close, the spring valve doesnt let air back in. but a few people told me thats crap, and u still have to do it the old way. is that true??? and if they do work why dont my brakes feel solid??

I bought a full set of speed bleeders for my Z32. I spent a huge amount of time and brake fluid giving them a chance to do their job...they did not. In particular, the clutch simply would not bleed until I used the "old fashioned" technique.

 

speed bleeders use a normal check valve to allow the fluid to flow in one direction. this technology works on a daily basis in millions of applications. as an engineer in diesel engines i know that these valves work, as we use them in all of our fuel systems and most of our oil supply lines.

as a bleeder these should work great. i dont know what you are saying about doing it the "old" way. the old way should be that you have to lossen the bleeder, depress the pedal and then retighten the bleeder, then release the pedal. the speed bleeder simply allows you to pump the pedal repeatedly without retightening. you still need to do everything else the same.

i have never had a problem with doing it the old way but i am thinking about getting these for both my clutch and brakes when i replace the lines.

 

Vacuum pump works the best. Just don't forget to monitor the fluid level.

 

I've had speed bleeders on my max for years. Haven't had any issues with mushy brake pedal or air in the system. It takes me a total of 10 minutes to bleed all four brakes with the speed bleeders...freakin easy.
